What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

With a background in childcare and an incomplete bachelor of education (will be returning later this year). I think it’s finding creative solutions that are particular to whoever you’re tutoring. Finding the ways to build the gaps in knowledge or that resonate with those individuals is challenging but what brings the most enjoyment. Seeing the little ah hah moments in their eyes.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think i’m very interpersonal and emotionally aware. My work experience has really developed these skills so I think navigating how to engage and carry myself would always be a reflection of who I would be tutoring. I also think I myself am a very bottom-up leaner so I am very conceptually strong with most of the areas I’ve studied.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think it all comes back to the working the tutoring around the individual. I think it’s just the try one way if that’s doesn’t work, then try another until something clicks. It would be just moulding the experience case-by-case. So ultimately I think importance is relating and catering the experience of whoever needs tutoring and scaffolding based on who they are. I think that is a vital skill and framework for tutoring.

About Samuel

Experienced Educator with Strong Primary School Focus

Samuel has several years of hands-on experience as a childcare educator and sports coach, working closely with primary-aged children before and after school. He has planned and run educational activities that build literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills in fun, structured ways. As a first aid officer and excursion supervisor, he is used to managing groups, keeping children safe and engaged, and calmly handling challenges – skills that translate directly into well-organised, focused tutoring sessions.

Building Confidence Through Structured, Active Learning

In his educator roles, Samuel regularly designed activities that combined learning with movement, such as maths games built into sports drills and team challenges that required reading and following multi-step instructions. This tutor uses similar approaches in tutoring, breaking tasks into clear steps and using practical examples to make concepts stick. He is experienced in supporting children with different personalities and needs, helping even quieter students participate and feel comfortable asking questions.

Supportive Guide for School Transitions and Study Skills

Samuel has spent considerable time helping students navigate new environments, from assisting children settling into out-of-school care to guiding older students through unfamiliar systems. This background helps him coach students through key transitions such as starting high school, managing homework loads and building simple study routines. He is comfortable using digital tools and resources and can help students organise their work, keep track of tasks and develop habits that support long-term success in English and maths.
