What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

My favourite part about tutoring is building a relationship with the tutee and seeing them progress. I was part of a peer tutoring program in high school, and many of the relationships built with the students I tutored lasted until graduation.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

My biggest strength is that I am in university, still learning myself so I understand the struggles and frustrations that come when you don't understand the material. I was, not long ago, the age of the students and I have siblings in the same age range, so I understand how they behave and how to keep them engaged.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

The most important thing you can do as a tutor is to encourage your student. If they are stressed and/or pressured, they will not be as open and, as a result, they will not learn as much. As a tutor, it is your responsibility to ensure your student has a growth mindset and not a fixed one. This is not just about how you achieve the best academic results, but how the student will conduct themselves for the rest of their life.

About ALEXANDER

High-achieving maths and science role model

Alexander is a high-performing mechanical engineering student with a high distinction average and strong results in advanced high school Maths and Physics. This tutor has worked through challenging extension maths, so he understands the step up from school content to more complex problem-solving. He uses this background to explain tricky ideas in a clear, step-by-step way, helping students see not just the โ€œhowโ€ but the โ€œwhyโ€ behind methods in Maths and related subjects.

Proven one-on-one tutoring in Maths and English

Alexander has hands-on experience from a school-based peer tutoring program, where he ran structured one-on-one sessions in Mathematics and English. He tailored lessons to each student, focusing on specific gaps and building confidence, and saw clear improvements in both grades and attitude towards learning. He also regularly tutors his younger siblings, giving him extra insight into how to keep younger learners focused, supported and on track with homework and exam preparation.

Engaging coach who makes learning active

Beyond academics, Alexander has taught childrenโ€™s martial arts classes, often stepping in as head coach for the kidsโ€™ program. He knows how to manage groups, keep students engaged, and turn skills into fun, goal-based activities. In tutoring, he brings the same approach: using short challenges, practical examples and game-like exercises to keep lessons lively. His experience designing engineering projects helps him create real-world problem scenarios that make Maths and Science feel useful and interesting.
