What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing a student go from feeling stuck or unsure to actually understanding a concept and gaining confidence. That moment where it โclicksโ for them is really rewarding.
I also enjoy building a connection with students and helping them feel more comfortable with maths over time. Itโs not just about improving marks โ itโs about helping them feel capable and less intimidated by the subject.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I think my main strengths are clear communication, patience, and adaptability.
Iโm able to break down concepts step-by-step in a way thatโs easy to follow, and Iโm patient when students need more time or repeated explanations. I also adapt my teaching style depending on the student, whether they need more structure, repetition, or encouragement.
I also focus a lot on building confidence, not just getting the right answer, which helps students become more independent over time.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
The most important thing a tutor can do is create a welcoming and supportive environment where the student feels comfortable and not judged. When students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes, their confidence increases.
Confidence plays a huge role in learning, so building that through encouragement and small successes is really important. Alongside that, a tutor should ensure the student understands the content by breaking concepts down clearly and adapting to the way they learn.
Overall, creating a positive environment and building confidence allows students to engage more, enjoy learning, and become more independent over time.

She has a very good understand on how to go from a mixed fraction to an improper fraction and also she was able to add and take away number very easily when they are positive
I encouraged her to do some textbook questions on adding and taking away negative numbers because she often got them wrong and when I would explain them she would understand yet still get similar questions wrong- I think she just needs a lot more practice
