What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
With tutoring, I most enjoy seeing the progress of students. With students I have helped in the past, knowing they are still using the methods, memorisation techniques, or general ways of breaking content down in their studies is extremely fulfilling. I also just genuinely enjoy teaching. My Dad is a school teacher so I understand that sometimes a 1 on 1 tutoring session is more effective than a classroom.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strengths as a tutor are my patience and my understanding. I have been in the position of content not coming through to me from the teaching methods I was receiving and it can feel frustrating. I understand that it is the tutor's role to personalise each student's experience based on their unique way of understanding. I believe I am not satisfied until I'm convinced the student fully understands the content. There's nothing worse than being embarrassed or unable to explain that the teaching methods you are receiving still aren't connecting with you.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe a tutor should be approachable and maintain a focused but casual study environment. The worst thing a tutor can be is uptight, stressed, or unsure. First, this creates an environment that the student may not feel comfortable asking questions or communicate their honest level understanding. Second, a tutor's lack of confidence in their own work can relay onto the student. This is why I believe a tutor should be confident and calm.
