I think one of the most important things a biology tutor can do is create a supportive environment where the student feels safe to make mistakes and ask questions. Learning doesn't happen when a student is stressed or afraid of being wrong. One of my main strengths as a tutor is my ability to explain things in a way that makes sense to each…

I think a biology tutor can help a student to boost confidence in a situation where a little more dedicated time and effort could make possible. A tutor can develop a learning strategy that the student can follow, to make a difficult or boring subject easier and interesting to learn. Undivided attention by a tutor, which would help the…

A tutor should boost the confidence of the student and being a biology tutor shouldn't be limited to only improving the students' results. They should be the most approachable person, after the parents, should the student face any issues with school or even life. A tutor should be the student's best friend and the bond should grow while nurturing…

First, I think a biology tutor should have good subject and curriculum knowledge so that they may be able to provide as much information as they can towards the kids. I think communication skills is another important thing a tutor must have (the way they explain the topics so that it is easy for the students to understand). Finally a tutor must be…

EzyMath were very quick to contact me and follow up my enquiry. I received lots of information and support. The tutor they assigned for my 13yr old was a good match- they were very nice and connected with my child but not really prepared for the first lesson -but it was their first time tutoring so i was happy to give another try.

Inside WandiTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student focused on completing the square to solve quadratic equations and reviewed probability assessment questions.

Another Year 10, Chloe, worked through simultaneous equations using both elimination and substitution methods.

For Year 11, Max tackled polynomial division by linear expressions and practiced finding solutions for cubic functions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 algebra, a student's fear of "functions with bigger numbers" led to avoidance and hesitation—resulting in incomplete working and missed practice opportunities.

Another high schooler tackling dilation of functions left report writing until the last minute, causing rushed submissions and less time for feedback; as one tutor observed, "try starting report writing earlier to not require cramming too close to due date."

In Year 6 maths, messy written work and skipping steps in division made it difficult to identify where mistakes occurred, prolonging confusion during homework review. These process habits directly impacted confidence and progress.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Wandi recently noticed a big change with a Year 10 student who used to get stuck on quadratic equations—she now confidently recognises no real solution exists and can spot her own past mistakes.

In Year 8, another student who was hesitant to ask for help during algebra lessons has started speaking up whenever unsure, which is a shift from his old habit of guessing quietly.

Meanwhile, one younger student has begun using "greater than" and "less than" symbols independently after previously mixing them up, even drawing the arrows correctly without reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Success Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Honeywood Primary School.
