I consider helping a student improve their grades is the most important thing a tutor could do for a student. That or helping a student gain a better understanding about the subject they are being tutored on. I am able to explain topics a person is struggling with in more detail, in a way that is able to be understood easily. I have knowledge in a…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make them feel like they are being spoken with, not spoken to. They need this so they can feel included in the discussion of learning, and not like they are being belittled for not knowing as much. I am very good at learning the best way to help someone and am able to find that way and show…

Local Reviews

We engaged with our Tutor 2 weeks ago and have already increased our sessions. Our tutor is incredibly patient, understanding and respectful of our daughter's requirements and makes recommendations and suggestions for improvement. When I've dealt with the coordinators they have been professional, courteous and incredibly helpful. Excellent service, very professional. Would highly recommended for all your maths tutoring needs.

Inside WarnbroTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Emily worked on expanding and factorising algebraic expressions for test preparation, as well as reviewing mistakes from a recent algebra assessment to improve her understanding.

In Year 8, Josh focused on revising fraction operations and tackling linear equations in rational form, also reflecting on his performance in a recent maths investigation.

Meanwhile, Milan (Year 11) completed general trigonometry revision covering topics from Years 9 and 10 in preparation for upcoming Math Applications work once the textbook arrives.

Recent Challenges

During a Year 10 session, anxiety became overwhelming during multi-step algebra problems; after a break, focus returned and the solution was completed, but "it will be crucial to practise methods for reducing/coping with anxiety."

In Year 11, one student hesitated to show working aloud due to fear of mistakes—this slowed progress when checking negative numbers.

For Year 8 revision, not recalling times tables made basic multiplication slow and interrupted problem-solving flow.

A Year 7 student often relied on calculators for simple arithmetic instead of mental recall.

In each case, hesitation or avoidance in process led to extra time spent and less confidence tackling new questions.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Warnbro noticed that a Year 10 student who previously hesitated to ask for help is now quick to identify challenges and confidently checks her own factorisation work by expanding answers—something she used to avoid.

In Year 8, another student, after struggling with fractions, began recognising steps in equations and even applied these skills when the topic shifted unexpectedly during the session.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who typically skipped long addition problems started attempting them independently using new strategies, without prompting from the tutor or relying on handouts.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Warnbro Community Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Warnbro Community High School.
