I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do is help students build their confidence. Many students already know more than they think—they just need someone to guide them patiently and help them believe in their abilities. A tutor should create a supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions and learn from…

One most important thing is to foster independent thinking. Alongside motivation and strengthening their weakness, as long as a student gains the potential and maturity to problem solve by themselves, they can achieve limitless opportunities. As a tutor, my ultimate goal would be to make the student capable of relying on their own knowledge in…

Aside from understanding the content to be taught, I believe that a tutor must have strong communication skills to understand the student. Simply tossing facts around would not help, these information has to be expressed in a form where the student can assimilate with ease and gain understanding from it instead of memorising it as it is.…

Evaluating the academic potential and comprehension level of a student is very important for a tutor. Only by understanding the current situation, can a tutor estimate the methods to employ in teaching a student or estimate how far back the tutor has to start with the basics. Also, patience is the key to achieving a student's confidence. Not being…

Explaining the concepts clearly and easily along with appropriate examples are the must for a tutor. But, more importantly, a tutor should help students cultivate good habits like hard work, discipline, confidence, time management etc. By doing so, a student not only grows academically but also personally. And this can help them in the future. I…

1. Understand the strong areas a student is in, let's say it's hard to teach the student mathematics/science when his/her passion is towards art. Understanding the key competencies of a student makes a good tutor, who can then channel them in the right direction to progressive and efficient results. 2. Practical learning, it's easier to teach…

Local Reviews

It was extremely easy to get started with EzyMath. We had been waiting months for a school tutor to become available, but when we couldn't wait any longer we contacted EzyMath. The tutor we have been given is very respectful and has already within a few weeks gained the trust of our son. We are already starting to see his confidence return and he is smiling again.

Inside Wyndham ValeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Aanya focused on identifying different types of angles within geometric shapes and practiced working with supplementary and complementary angles.

For Year 10, Riya worked through solving quadratic equations by both factorisation and completing the square, then applied these skills to form and solve equations from worded problems.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Aryan concentrated on graphing piecewise linear functions and used function notation to solve practical application questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often relied on repeating familiar question types, avoiding newer problem formats in algebra; as one tutor noted, "concepts already taught are having to be repeated from the beginning for each new problem," which slowed progress and reduced exposure to different solution strategies.

In a Year 7 session, incomplete practice with forming equations from word problems meant steps had to be re-explained, disrupting momentum.

For VCE Maths (Year 12), insufficient revision of earlier units led to delays during sessions, as past concepts weren't confidently recalled when tackling advanced differentiation tasks. Time was spent revisiting basics instead of consolidating higher-level skills.

Recent Achievements

A Wyndham Vale tutor recently noticed a big shift in Braith, a Year 10 student who used to take several steps to solve equations but now works most out mentally and has started finishing his weekly syllabus ahead of schedule.

Anushka, also in high school, previously hesitated when faced with graphing tasks; last session, she confidently sketched transformed graphs without needing prompts.

In the primary years, Alice—who struggled with identifying geometric shapes—now quickly names them and applies parallel line theorems smoothly. During her last lesson, she solved every angles question independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Manor Lakes Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Iramoo Primary School.
