Engineering Studies Tutor Merrylands, NSW
The most important thing a tutor can do is inspire the students to be successful. This might mean pushing them to study harder, it also might not mean this. It is also important for a tutor to gauge a students potential to see how hard they should push their students. For the less talented students, a lot of patience would be needed. A greater…

Engineering Studies Tutor Guildford, NSW
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to respect their intellect. A tutor must always be careful not to break a student’s confidence. Sometimes, students may feel low for not being able to catch up to their friends. In such case, it is very important as a tutor to encourage the student and bring back his confidence. Childhood…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be dependable. If a student is having problems with their education, they must feel confident enough to approach their tutor, knowing that the tutor can assist in any way possible. I have been tutored by various people, so I know the advantages and disadvantages of different tutoring…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for the students is to inspire them to have fun in learning. They should be encouraged that learning is an enjoyable activity and not a burden. My goal is for them to treasure and remember the things that they have learned and make it useful for them in the future. My passion to learn and share the…

To not show them the answer straight away. Push the student to understand what they are doing, and use the knowledge that they have learnt to solve the problem. There is no point in getting a question wrong, looking at the answer and saying 'I will do that next time'. It is essential that they can do the questions individually and confidently. I…

I believe the most important thing is to help and guide students through the HSC period, and their choices after the HSC. My strength would be that I can understand what the students feel because I have been enroled into many different tutoring centers. My weakness is that I am a quiet person and I don't talk a lot unless it is with close friends,…

Engineering Studies Tutor Fairfield West, NSW
The most important role a tutor can play is showing constant and unconditional support for their student. This is something I've learned from the example of my previous tutor who answered almost every email or text message within the hour within reason. I believe showing this constant support allows the student to trust us as tutors and react more…

Other than the obvious reasons of being able to just regurgitate the content taught in schools in my opinion the most important things a tutor could do for a student is be compassionate for them and empathetic as tutoring is not like school as since they may go tutoring e.g. 1 time per week they need to learn more content than of which they do at…

I believe that a tutor should make learning engaging and interesting so that the student is able to learn the content as easily and stress free as possible. Tutors should also accelerate students learning to give them an advantage at school I am very understanding of things that could be difficult for a student to grasp. I am also patient and able…

Inside Potts HillTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Natalia worked on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators and tackled past paper problem-solving questions for the OC maths test.

Year 8 student Ryan focused on rates and ratios, applying them to real-world scenarios, and also reviewed how interest rates work using step-by-step calculations.

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Lily practised converting decimals to mixed numbers as well as simplifying equivalent fractions, reinforcing these skills with targeted worksheets.

Recent Challenges

In Year 7 English, one student's essays were "missing key points in the conclusion," and time management issues showed up during exam writing.

In Year 6 maths, a habit of doing working out mentally instead of on paper led to repeated mistakes with fractions and perimeter; as noted, "he needs to write down his working out rather than doing them in his head."

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student struggled with applying the correct formula when faced with multi-step problems, often guessing or choosing at random if unsure—this meant he missed opportunities to learn from feedback and solidify problem-solving strategies.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Potts Hill recently saw Joel, a Year 10 student, shift from writing run-on sentences to spotting and correcting them on his own—something he'd struggled with before.

Sriyan, also in high school, won his class speech competition after working hard on structure and argument; previously, he'd hesitated to present.

In primary years, Adriana surprised her tutor by quickly picking up how decimals work and now solves complex addition problems in her head without prompting.

At the end of her last session, she completed all her fractions homework accurately and explained each answer aloud.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Regents Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Birrong Girls High School.
