I think a tutor should strive their best to bring knowledge to the students, and at the meantime, adjusting to the best teaching method towards different students. Moreover, I prefer my students to enjoy the class since pleasure could boost the effectiveness for learning. I am a very patient person, whom I am willing to spend time to explain the…

Moreover it is important for the tutor to utilize effective communication in order to understand the weaknesses of the student in the subject, and so be able to effectively and efficiently teach the student. I think it's really important for a tutor to offer intrinsic motivation to a student. I find that alot of students are easily academically discouraged. I believe my role as a tutor is to provide them guidance and encouragement. However, I believe a tutor should always be realistic and honest with their student as it would be wrong to offer false…

A good tutor should help their student develop a love for what they are learning. When this is done successfully, this has a knock-on effect on the student's results as they are more engaged with the content they are learning. This starts with the tutor being passionate about the content they are teaching and being determined to push the student…

Making sure that the student fully understands the teaching content. The most important part of tutoring is to make sure the student grasps a concept entirely and doesn't have any gaps in their knowledge before moving onto new topics. It is essential for students to fully comprehend a difficult concept as this will help them remember it better, gain confidence in the topic and lower their stress. Additionally,…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to increase their confidence, so that even if they are struggling with a concept/ problem they know that they can achieve a solution and that they have the skills to do so. It is important that the student feels that they can achieve their goals after you have stopped tutoring them. I am a…

The most important things for a tutor is to be a source of support that they can reach out to, not only in the specific subject that they're tutoring, but also studying and school life in general. Effective teaching of a student to me involves two fundamental aspects, this is; development of key fundamental concepts and knowledge, and maturing a student's perspective of their learning through evolving of their own self-confidence and faith in themselves. Inside Roseville ChaseTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student James worked on money calculations and fractions, as well as strengthening his skills with multiplication and division using everyday examples.

In Year 8, Trai practised plotting linear equations and revising key algebraic techniques, also converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages to support his exam preparation.

For Year 9, Aja focused on trigonometry problems including angles of depression and elevation, alongside factorising quadratic expressions through targeted practice questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 algebra, a student did not write down his working, leading to frequent errors that were hard to trace and correct.

During a Year 12 assignment, another student delayed drafting Parts A and B, making it difficult to start later sections on time.

In Year 6, incomplete homework meant less opportunity to review rounding decimals before the next lesson.

One Year 11 student only revised familiar surd questions and avoided unfamiliar formats; this limited exposure left her struggling with variety in tests.

After missing steps in a trigonometry proof (Year 10), confidence dipped noticeably during timed practice.

Recent Achievements

In Year 4, James was initially unsure about placing fractions on a number line, but by the end of the session he confidently ordered fractions like 1/4 and 1/3 without prompting.

For a high school student, Aja had struggled with bearings questions before her test; after targeted practice last week, she managed to answer those problems accurately during her assessment.

Another older student began hesitating to solve for x independently, but finished the lesson able to perform each step on his own for the first time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Castle Cove Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Castle Cove Public School.
