The most important thing a Tutor can do for a student is help them to confidently unlock the door to their own learning potential. I aim to show students the way towards understanding the way they learn and see the world. Once a person understands their own mind, they can take control of their own learning and come across their own methods of…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is help students understand concepts rather than simply giving them the answers. A good tutor encourages critical thinking, builds problem-solving skills, and helps students develop the confidence to work through challenges on their own. Give them the confidence they need to stay motivated to acheive their Goals. Whether it be merely passing a class or excelling wih 99%, any improvement needs to be congratulated. Be patient, if the student is not understanding your explanation, obviously a different approach is needed. Do not lecture. This the students are already receiving in…

Give confidence to the student to be able to do the work independently eventually, and guide them in the right direction for doing so. If a tutor can teach and guide the student into having confidence and a good skill set to be able to feel comfortable doing the work at school, and it gives students self-assurance, then the tutor has done their…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is not merely give additional lessons, but connect with them to gauge their individual skills and aid in further establishing them. It's important to be able to explain concepts clearly and ensure that the student understands the concept. Local Reviews

Danni was great and the girls were very happy with her.
Chris, Subiaco

Inside SubiacoTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Sophia worked through division of fractions and simple interest problems, then tackled introductory trigonometry with guided practice.

For Year 10, Ethan completed a review of quadratic functions and practised trig questions from Chapter 11 using diagrams to reinforce concepts.

In Year 11, Chloe focused on dividends and price-earnings ratios in financial maths, also comparing share prices with real-world examples for context.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly avoided writing out working in algebra, which made it hard to catch sign errors—"I suggested she write each step," the tutor noted.

In Year 12 Chemistry, one student struggled with organizing notes and remembering formulas without looking them up, so tests were planned at lesson start to check recall.

A tired Year 9 learner lost focus during revision and gave up on multi-step problems; snack breaks helped regain attention but progress slowed.

Another senior English student skipped practicing timed essays and left homework incomplete, leading to repeated pauses when structuring arguments under pressure.

Recent Achievements

One Subiaco tutor noticed a Year 10 student who, after weeks of hesitating to ask for help, started speaking up mid-lesson when she got stuck—making it much easier to clarify tricky algebra steps together.

A Year 12 student who previously mixed up integration techniques is now confidently choosing the right method and can sketch derivatives without prompting, showing real independence in her calculus work.

In a recent session with a Year 4 student, the tutor observed that he's begun using the number line unprompted for negative integers and managed several challenging questions solo by the end of their lesson.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Subiaco Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Subiaco Primary School.
