A tutor's greatest contribution is to give students confidence in their upcoming studies. In addition to teaching academic knowledge, tutors need to point out directions for students and divide difficult tasks into steps to cultivate students' problem-solving ability. I have sufficient experience in counseling teenagers, I am good at communicating…

I believe the 3 most important things a tutor can do for a student is: 1. being fluent with the content, 2. giving moral support when necessary and 3. create a sort of friendship with the student. I think my biggest strength as a tutor is to be able to teach via understanding content rather then rope learning, which i think is an imperative…

To support and give great motivation to the student is the most important thing. Having the thought that everybody can learn and be able to success in learning if the student found interest in the subject. The most important thing for a tutor is to never underestimate a student, and to be there for them as a support and to show them that they can. If a student loses self esteem and think that they can't do it...they wont. It's all about giving them a healthy mindset which allows them to gain the knowledge given. My biggest strength i believe is how…

In general, I believe that the best way to teach Maths/Science is in a way which the student understands the concepts rather than just giving the student a method to produce an answer, which is how these subjects are commonly taught. 1. I am self-directed, energetic, and enthusiastic. I have completed my Bachelor of Engineering + Management…

A good tutor, besides academic understanding, communication, patience and flexibility are the key aspects. Every student has their own unique learning curve and techniques, it is the tutor's job to discuss with the student and figure out the best way to convey the ideas and give appropriate study load. Explaining the concepts clearly and easily along with appropriate examples are the must for a tutor. But, more importantly, a tutor should help students cultivate good habits like hard work, discipline, confidence, time management etc. By doing so, a student not only grows academically but also personally. And this can help them in the future. I…

Inside WindsorTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Nicholas practised converting mixed numbers to decimals and ordering decimals, then moved on to rounding decimals to different place values.

In Year 9, Ava worked through SOH-CAH-TOA trigonometry rules for right triangles and solved word problems using the Pythagorean theorem.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Matthew focused on expanding and factorising algebraic expressions—including perfect squares—and applied these skills in exercises involving difference of two squares.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, incomplete homework meant key credit card and interest concepts were forgotten—this showed up in quiz struggles. "A significant amount of knowledge...was lost over the last week due to incompletion of homework," a tutor noted.

In Physics (Year 12), written work for mechanics topics was sometimes hard to follow, with missed steps during multi-part calculations leading to errors that slowed progress on Module 5 questions.

For a Year 8 student, skipping working on paper and relying only on mental maths led to confusion in algebra problems; this habit made it harder to spot where mistakes crept in.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Windsor noticed one high school student who used to skip note-taking now diligently writes down key tips and even refers back to them when tackling new material.

Another secondary student, after weeks of struggling with logarithms, finally began applying log rules independently during practice questions, marking a real turning point in their understanding.

In Year 4, a younger learner who often guessed at answers started raising her hand to ask clarifying questions instead—showing she's becoming more comfortable seeking help rather than staying silent or guessing.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Prahran / Windsor Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Windsor Primary School.
