According to me, it is to be open and provide a comfortable environment to the students, where they can study and share their thoughts without hesitating. Apart from this, it is to make learning a fun process by teaching in a more fun way, this includes doing different activities to make children understand the concepts, etc. I do possess great…

I think it would be the unlimited support and confidence the tutor has for their student as well as their passion for their subject they are teaching. If the student feels like their tutor listens to them and has confidence in their potential, then in due time, the student will likely flourish and develop their abilities. A lot of the time…

Noridah Ismail, Bennett Springs

Inside Bennett SpringsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Lily worked on building confidence with long division and larger multiplication, then applied these skills to multi-step word problems.

For Year 8, Daniel practised finding gradients and midpoints between points on the Cartesian plane, as well as solving linear equations using tables and graphs.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Emily reviewed trigonometry concepts like alternate angles and bearings before moving into geometric reasoning and congruency proofs.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, a student found it difficult to recall methods for solving perimeter and area problems without their notes, which slowed progress on composite shape questions.

For a Year 7 algebra task, as one tutor noted, "he skipped showing steps in simplifying fractions," leading to repeated sign errors that went unnoticed until review.

In Year 11 trigonometry, another struggled to apply formulas correctly from memory, often confusing similar rules during practice tests.

Meanwhile, a primary student avoided writing working when tackling long division—errors weren't visible for correction, making each new attempt feel like starting from scratch.

Recent Achievements

One Bennett Springs tutor recently noticed a Year 10 student who used to rely heavily on guidance now confidently solves linear equations and applies the method across different problem sets without hesitation.

In another high school session, a student struggling with spelling rules—especially confusing 'd' and 'b'—has begun to self-correct, showing much less hesitation and scoring 7 out of 10 on a recent test.

Meanwhile, in primary years, one child who always counted on her fingers for addition now tries mental strategies first, eagerly attempting sums independently after practicing with a visual time-line.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Beechboro Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Beechboro Christian School - Marshall Road Campus.
