Chemistry Tutor Parramatta Park, QLD
I personally believe that for a chemistry tutor to be effective, they have to be willing to listen to, and learn from, the individual that they are working with. There is always more than one way to teach a specific skill, and, as a result of this, it is important to work together to find the most effective methods. I think that it is important to…

Chemistry Tutor Brinsmead, QLD
The most important thing that a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to engage the student in a way which makes them want to keep learning that specific subject if not fall in love with it. At the end of the day motivation must come from the student themself and as a tutor I believe it is my job to help the student find that motivation. I…

Best of all the tutoring companies I have worked for. The starting pay is about national minimum wage for a casual employee, and unlike other tutoring companies, Ezy Math pays you a travel bonus if the client is more than 15 minutes drive from you. Although only a couple of dollars, if you can get a 1.5 or 2 hour lesson instead of just an hour, or better yet, find a second client nearby (which is not hard, as Ezy Math has way more Brisbane clients than any other tutoring company I have worked for), your travel cost is completely covered! Tutoring is a rewarding job, and I loved working with all my students and taking part in their journey towards academic success. All the parents I have come across have loved working with me, and I go above and beyond with lesson feedback, as well as trying to accommodate the times that best work for them. Unfortunately, Ezy Math, like many other companies, offer a free trial lesson, which means if the client does not like you for whatever reason, then you do not get paid for your travel, and time. It has only happened to me once, but still unfortunate that my time and petrol were wasted for nothing. Furthermore, you undergo probably one of the most rigorous screening processes of any tutoring company I have worked for. It took weeks for me to get started from application. In terms of the customer and tutor support team, they are willing to help, such as helping negotiate with clients, or handle interactions that a new or young tutor may not be comfortable handling. Furthermore, unlike some other companies, your wage can go up as you receive more and more positive client feedback (which is passed on to you via email, and always brightens your day). This means, you can soon be making almost double what you would be making in a retail store or fast food place. Furthermore, the ability to choose your hours, and work locations is really beneficial. It's entirely up to you to choose where your clients are, and match their availabilities with yours. All in all, whilst many tutoring companies make me hate the pay, or the complex procedures, Ezy Math's only downside was the long recruitment process. Everything passed there was amazing and I would recommend any aspiring tutor to choose Ezy Math over any other company.

Inside Cairns NorthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ethan practised converting between analogue and digital time as well as solving subtraction with decimals.

Year 8 student Layla focused on calculating simple interest and working through exam revision problems involving Pythagoras' theorem, using diagrams to clarify concepts.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Sophia tackled index laws—simplifying expressions and evaluating powers—and completed factorising algebraic equations using examples from recent schoolwork.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student arrived without materials for a study session, leading to missed note-taking practice and lost time ("did not have gear for study").

In Year 9 maths, forgetting or losing homework sheets meant the entire lesson was spent redoing previous work rather than progressing—this pattern may be slowing retention.

Another high schooler skipped assigned study questions and needed reminders to ask for further problems, so their independent revision remains patchy.

As a tutor noted in Year 7, "general formatting needs work"—messy written layout made checking answers harder during basic arithmetic. Momentum slipped each time these process gaps appeared.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Cairns North noticed one high school student who previously relied heavily on hints now completing textbook questions independently, even tackling complex applications without prompting.

Another older student, after initially hesitating to ask for help, started bringing her own practice work to sessions and came prepared with specific questions before a test—something she'd never done before.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who often lost focus during maths lessons showed much better concentration last week and finished all assigned problems with only minimal assistance. In her final task, she chose to check her answers herself instead of waiting for the tutor's input.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lakeland Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mother of Good Counsel School.
