This comes from being able to put yourself in their position before answering their questions and trying to be as tailored to every students learning ability. Also to be highly motivated to impact the greater good which…

I think the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for their students is to develop relationships so that the student is entirely comfortable with being honest with the tutor about questions and concerns with academics, as well as beyond what is required by the curriculum. A tutor must be empathetic and patient, and this allows them to…

To be attentive and to address the students personal needs for growth. The tutor should set an ideal example in terms of behaviour motivation and actions- one which a student should be able to look up to but also resonate with. This allows him to engage with the student at a personal level and provide better more relatable academic support, but…

a student always goes to a chemistry tutor when they find that they need some extra bit. so a tutor must see what that 'extra bit' is? is it time? is it the base knowledge of student, or is it something to do with his style of processing the information. or may be something else. but a tutor must understand the overall demand of the tutoring class…

You can inspire a student and make him independent. The goal of a teacher (ironically) is to make himself redundant. Being able to develop self-learning skills and teaching oneself by asking right questions is the key process of learning. Eventually, you can master the art of learning itself and you don't need a teacher. I can be very friendly and…

I don't believe that the most important things that a tutor can do for a student start in the classroom. The most important thing in achieving desired outcomes in school, or any discipline, is attitude. It starts with understanding that a whole is made up of parts, and that ten minutes a day, although small, adds up over the course of three…

Inside Eastern CreekTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student James focused on times tables and interpreting picture graphs, practicing with visual examples.

In Year 9, Olivia worked through algebraic factorisation as well as constructing and analysing cumulative frequency tables and histograms.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ethan concentrated on solving simultaneous equations and tackled a range of worded problems from worksheets and the textbook to build confidence in applying these skills to real scenarios.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 algebra, one student preferred only the school's method and avoided exploring alternative approaches, which limited flexibility during problem-solving.

For a senior student tackling probability and AMC questions, over-reliance on notes was noted—"she kept referring back instead of attempting independently."

In Year 7, skipping clear layout when working through BIDMAS problems made it difficult to track errors, as observed: "structuring the working out needs work."

Meanwhile, a primary learner lost focus midway through long division worded tasks, resulting in guessed answers rather than completed reasoning.

Each scenario led to missed learning moments or repeated avoidable errors.

Recent Achievements

One Eastern Creek tutor noticed a Year 9 student who had struggled with time management finish her NAPLAN practice test independently and within the set limit for the first time.

A Year 11 maths student, previously unsure about bivariate data, worked through all questions on simultaneous equations without needing help and could clearly explain why each formula was used.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who used to hesitate with rounding numbers gained enough confidence after some sibling practice to teach the method back—something she'd avoided before. The session ended with her completing every rounding question correctly on her own.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Eastern Creek Public School.
