The most important things a physics tutor can do for a student is to first be understanding as each student has different experiences with learning subjects and may also have problems outside of education. Secondly would be to be approachable and appear easy-going so the student will not be intimidated or scared in having learning sessions with…

The most important thing is that the student is comfortable with you and that the tutor is actually helping them to learn and improve. Not only should the tutor be able to improve the students scores for a particular subject, they should also be able to teach them ways to study and prepare so that the student not only knows the material for the…

Each student is unique and so it is important to give them their space, be patient and understand their abilities and enhance them positively. It is important to teach students to be confident with their ideas and foster problem solving skills. I have strong communication skills, and I believe this ability helps me connect with children and…

To support them in grasping a subject they find difficult even if it means finding a way for them to understand using multiple different approaches and techniques. Something that a student can take away from the tutoring is feeling comfortable with what we’ve been working on and setting goals they can work towards. Even if it’s an…

Inside Eden ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Sarah focused on converting between kilometres, metres, centimetres, and millimetres using measurement exercises.

In Year 9, Ethan practised multiplication and division of surds along with rationalising denominators and was introduced to indices through step-by-step worked examples.

For Year 10, Mia reviewed algebraic factorisation techniques and tackled worded problems requiring recognition of patterns and equation rules to support her classwork.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly forgot to bring class materials, leading to lost time reconstructing problems from memory instead of focusing on practice ("To be more organised next time and have a few more class materials with her if possible").

In Year 10 English, another avoided incorporating tutor feedback into creative writing drafts, which meant improvements in descriptive language were not seen between sessions.

For a senior maths student preparing for exams, skipping written steps in algebra—"May need to work on writing out each step, rather than trying to solve equation in his head"—led to repeated sign errors that slowed overall progress.

Recent Achievements

One Eden Park tutor noticed a Year 10 student who had previously hesitated with algebra now confidently using factorisation techniques on her own after just a few sessions.

In another session, a Year 11 student showed real initiative by independently identifying mistakes in her maths work and explaining new problem-solving strategies she'd developed—something she used to avoid doing.

A Year 4 student, who often waited for prompts before answering, recently completed an assignment under supervision without needing reminders and even asked for more questions when finished.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Whittlesea Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Mary's School.
