Business Studies Tutor Jesmond, NSW
Make sure that the student is comfortable with your way of teaching and is actively involved. Tutoring is not only about jabbering stuff even though the student doesn’t understand a single thing. You have to take it slow and steady until your student is confident enough and can explain the same concept back to you even well. - calmness…

A tutor should be able to provide good advice for a student with respect to the individual needs of the student. By being flexible, open and available to help students as much as possible, tutors have the capacity to develop a deep and meaningful connection with them and students will be able to trust and learn more from the tutor. As high school…

The most important thing by far is engagement. Tutoring is good, although it can only do so much if the students interest is elsewhere. The best thing a tutor can do is help the student engage more in school as the student will spend 80% of their time in the classroom and 20% with a tutor so using that 80% to your advantage is the most important…

Understanding the student is the most primary thing. Without understanding the student you can explain him an entire Library and the student will still be an illiterate or at worse develop fear or disinterest in learning. Connection, understanding, acknowledging and tailoring my approach towards each individual who's different from the…

Based on my experience, I believe tutoring goes beyond the instructional role to supplement class-room teaching in three ways: Empathic: Face-to-face or personalized tutoring is intended to be remedial in nature. At times, the lack of understanding of some fundamental concepts from the prior years causes difficulty for the student. The tutor…

I believe an important component of tutoring is patience, ensuring that the student completely understands the topic before moving on. This leads into following up. Following up the previous session for a couple of minutes in the next lesson is highly beneficial as the student can show their understanding of the topic, allowing the opportunity to…

Inside JesmondTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Ruby reviewed area and perimeter of triangles, parallelograms, and trapeziums using practice diagrams, then tackled finding the area of circles.

For Year 10, Sebastian focused on quadratic equations and also prepared for upcoming assessments by revising similarity and probability questions from past exams.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Christian worked through integration with trigonometry and practiced finding the area under a curve to strengthen calculus skills.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student often hesitated on multi-step algebra problems, expressing "I get stuck when there are too many terms," which led to lost confidence and reverting to easier examples instead of persisting.

In Year 11, another student completed equations accurately with support present but was unable to repeat the process independently—this reliance made solo exam attempts much more stressful.

For a Year 8 learner, uncertainty in remembering steps during geometry meant answers were second-guessed or changed, sometimes erasing correct work due to doubt.

These patterns left students feeling unsure during assessments and slowed progress through new material.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Jesmond recently noticed a Year 11 student who, after weeks of hesitating to ask questions, now openly points out confusion about algebra problems—something he avoided before.

In another session, a Year 9 student who previously needed step-by-step support with factorising and simplifying equations was able to solve them with minor guidance this week.

Meanwhile, one primary student showed a big shift by confidently finding the perimeter of compound shapes on her own after struggling at first; she finished the last set independently without any hints from her tutor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wallsend Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Jesmond Public School.
