Being adaptable and patient to every child's individual learning style or ability is crucial in not just tutoring, but any situation where you act as a role model for someone younger. I would think my biggest strength is my ability to communicate with younger students in a way that would encourage a stronger learning experience. I think I am…

A tutor must be able to approach problems/concepts in different ways until they find the best way that the kid understands. Teachers have method that suit the whole class, whereas tutors must be able to look deeper into the specific areas a kid is struggling in and answer their questions that take longer and more practice. Tutors must be able to…

I think the most important thing an economics tutor can do for a student is helping the student believe in themselves and letting them know they can do well. This is because most of the time students self doubts leads to them struggling with content not a lack of ability. I create strategies to help my students remember content easier and I make…

The most important thing an economics tutor can do is to not give up on the student. While it is rewarding when students improve, some can take a while before they can overcome their learning curve. It is important to be patient and work together as a team to help them achieve better results. I try to think outside the box and tailor my lessons to…

I believe an economics tutor can inspire a student to be a better human being. A tutor can inspire a student to think differently, to think out of the box, to be creative. The tutor can pass on knowledge and real world experience and insights. In other words a tutor can perfect a student. I think my first strength is that I am extremely patient.…

The most important things an economics tutor can do for a student is to understand that they are essentially human beings, and should be treated as such. Inside RosannaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Charlie focused on adding and subtracting fractions and prepared for an upcoming fractions test using targeted practice.

In Year 8, Emily worked through number patterns, including identifying rules and solving pattern problems involving multiplication and substitution.

For Year 11, Alex tackled least squares regression lines in statistics and reinforced understanding of data transformation concepts by working through example questions together.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 mathematics, one student regularly forgot to bring her calculator and books, which meant she lost valuable practice time in class and sometimes couldn't complete set tasks.

A Year 10 learner struggled with setting out answers clearly—her algebra steps were hard to follow, as a tutor noted: "She skipped showing working out, which hid errors."

Meanwhile, a senior student missed a lesson but did not seek help afterwards, so gaps remained before the next topic began.

In each case, organization or avoidance of visible working led to extra confusion or slower progress during lessons.

Recent Achievements

One Rosanna tutor noted a big shift in a Year 10 student who, after previously hesitating to speak up, now regularly asks for help when confused and finishes most questions without prompting.

In a senior session, Sarah from Year 12 pushed ahead of her class by tackling exam-style matrices problems—she actively asked detailed questions to clarify tricky points, something she rarely did before.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student surprised her tutor by spotting number patterns independently; just weeks ago she needed step-by-step guidance for each problem but now often works through the sequences independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Rosanna Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Rosanna Primary School.
