What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Over the years, I've found myself drawn to roles where I can be a trustworthy adult who shows up for kids in different ways. In an educational sense, I love that I get to build that connection and use it for something substantial. Sure, it reflects my efforts to a degree, but when my students came to me with beaming smiles because of a great test score, it makes me feel great that I took the time to help THEM achieve that outcome and help show them that they are capable of great things, with and without my help.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Having worked in summer camps and schools across North America, I understand the value of getting on a student's level to a certain degree. My students and I would definitely work hard together but I was genuinely interested in getting to know about their lives and interests, not only so I could tailor my approach to their needs, but so I could become a person where they wanted to work with me as they enjoyed our sessions together because I took the time to build trust and connection as well.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Depending on the level of struggle, I think validating the student and making sure they feel like it's not the end of the world if they don't understand a concept the first time it's introduced to them is 100% ok. Some students need to spend a little more time working on those things and there's nothing wrong with that because that extended effort could potentially means it could stick with them longer because they've put in that time to learn and do and try go through the steps more times over.

About Mitchell
Extensive Experience Supporting Diverse Learners
Mitchell brings a wealth of hands-on experience working directly with children across primary and secondary levels, including those with special educational needs such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dysgraphia. As an Educational Assistant in an inclusive school environment, he tailored academic support for students from grades 2 to 8, utilising visual cues and assistive communication technology. This tutor’s ability to adapt learning strategies ensures that every student receives individualised guidance suited to their unique strengths and challenges.
Leadership in Youth Development and Team-Building
With multiple seasons spent as a camp coordinator and adventure course leader, Mitchell has led groups ranging from young children through to teens in engaging educational activities. He is experienced in managing behavioural issues constructively, designing group initiatives, and teaching skills like orienteering and knot-tying. Notably, he created and delivered sessions on songwriting—blending creativity into his approach—and coordinated leadership training for teen mentors preparing them to support younger campers.
Empathetic Communication & Practical Problem-Solving
Mitchell’s strong focus on clear communication shines through his work both one-on-one with students needing extra support and while leading large teams during high-energy camp sessions. His non-violent crisis intervention certification underscores his commitment to positive behaviour management. By combining empathy with practical tools—such as visual aids for nonverbal learners—he creates a supportive atmosphere where all students can thrive academically and personally.
