What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I most enjoy being able to teach concepts that I once found difficult due to how it was explained to me, in a way that I believe anyone can understand. Additionally, I love seeing students go from uncertainy to confidence due to understanding rather than memorising concepts.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe I am good at breaking down complex abstractions and ideas into concise, relatable, and approachable information that is more understandable than a textbook lesson with an academic tone. I believe I am also strong at making sure students feel reassured and confident with their learning. By understanding where they are, in terms of skills, anxiety, and confidence, I can foster a low-stress environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as that's usually when the most valuable learning occurs.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing is being able to adapt to their students' style of learning. Although everyone has innate tricks and methodologies for good teaching, no single style suits everyone. Being able to adapt explanations, adjust strategies, and introduce new teaching methods is key in helping students learn in the most efficient and meaningful way for them.

About Finn
About me
My name is Finn, and I am 18 years old. I am a first-year university student at the University of New South Wales, studying a combined degree of physics and 3D animation. I was born in the UK, and have lived in London, New York City, and Auckland. I am passionate about learning and, consequently, love teaching others.
Tutor Experience
I began tutoring in 2024, working privately with students from my school, helping them with physics and mathematics. I also volunteered and honed my practice in my school's weekly after-school mathematics tutoring for junior students. I have also had my own Japanese tutor, and in doing so, learned many great strategies to help students.
My hopes as a tutor
As a tutor for mathematics, physics, and English, I would love to ensure all of my future students not only succeed in their studies but also feel super confident in continuing to excel in future years. Providing this confidence is my greatest aspiration as a tutor.
