What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing students grow in both their understanding and confidence. It’s really rewarding to watch someone go from feeling unsure or overwhelmed to being able to solve problems independently and even enjoy the subject.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am able ability to explain concepts clearly, and I’m able to break down complex ideas into simple, understandable steps, which helps students build a strong foundation and feel more confident in their learning. I’m also very patient and supportive, which allows me to create a comfortable environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and learn at their own pace. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s needs.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

A tutor should focus on helping students understand concepts rather than just memorising answers. Building a student’s confidence is essential. Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they doubt themselves. A good tutor encourages and reassures students, helping them feel more confident. It is also important to make students should feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace

About Malar

Strong Maths Background with Clear, Calm Explanations

Malar brings a strong academic foundation in science and mathematics from her tertiary studies, which allows her to break down tricky concepts into simple, stepbystep explanations. She has consistently excelled in maths and uses this strength to help students move from “I don’t get it” to “this makes sense now”. This tutor focuses on building real understanding rather than rote learning, so students gain both skills and confidence that carry through to tests and everyday classroom work.

Hands-On Experience Working with Children in Learning Settings

Malar has worked as a teaching assistant in a primary school, supervising classes, supporting individual students and helping with lesson organisation. This experience means she understands classroom expectations, common learning hurdles and how to keep younger students engaged. She has also been a student counsellor, where she helped organise school events and supported peers, sharpening her ability to listen, encourage and guide. Parents can expect a tutor who is patient, organised and very comfortable working with children and teens.

Caring, Communicative Tutor with Unique Skills

Beyond academics, Malar brings strong communication skills developed through volunteering with community groups and completing an introductory sign language course, giving her tools to connect with a wide range of learners, including those who are hearing impaired. Her current work with children’s vision has deepened her appreciation of how differently students take in information. She uses these insights to adjust explanations, check understanding in different ways, and create a calm, encouraging space where students feel safe to ask questions.
