First and foremost, an english tutor has to gel up with the student, make him/her comfortable. Once that is done, the teaching method adopted must be interesting, with must include examples from daily life so that the student can relate to it easily. Moreover, a diagrammatic approach must be used while teaching, since, children tend to remember…

The most important thing is to ensure that a student properly understands the task in front of them so that at a later stage, they are able to work independently and without assistance. A tutor also needs to remain positive and act as a positive influence over the student and ensure the student feels safe and comfortable at all times. I am…

Patience is first and foremost when you're with a student. It is vastly important that you should respect the pace at which the student learns and works at, to never pressure or rush the student, to challenge them without making them feel small or inadequate. We all learn in different ways and at different speeds - none of which are better or…

I believe the most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is the ability for the student to develop a independent style of learning and facing adversities with a strategy in mind. This allows the student to not only develop academically but also fosters a lifestyle of learning that will help them transition into high education. I am…

First, I think an english tutor should have good subject and curriculum knowledge so that they may be able to provide as much information as they can towards the kids. I think communication skills is another important thing a tutor must have (the way they explain the topics so that it is easy for the students to understand). Finally a tutor must…

I wish to inspire all my students to critically think and problem solve. Not just to pass their exams or tests, but to apply these skills to their everyday lives. With the state the world is moving, I believe it is necessary students question what they are told so that they can do their own research and come to their own conclusions. 1) Multimodal…

A great tutor isn’t just a walking answer key; they’re a guide, helping students navigate toward solutions while ensuring they understand the steps along the way. By fostering a growth mindset, I help students stay motivated and recognise that progress comes with effort and persistence. My strengths as a tutor include being patient and…

Help support the student so that tutoring does not become another point of stress for the student. When I was tutored years ago I found that when the tutor listened to be and walked me through things at my pace was when I felt that the tutoring was the most effective. Help them gain confidence in their own intellectual capabilites across the board, not just in a specific subject. One of my major strengths is patience. I think as a tutor it is very important to understand the student and their situation and to make sure they are comfortable and ready to learn. A lot of patience is required as students have their…

EzyMath were very quick to contact me and follow up my enquiry. I received lots of information and support. The tutor they assigned for my 13yr old was a good match- they were very nice and connected with my child but not really prepared for the first lesson -but it was their first time tutoring so i was happy to give another try.

Inside WandiTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 10 student focused on completing the square to solve quadratic equations and reviewed probability assessment questions.

Another Year 10, Chloe, worked through simultaneous equations using both elimination and substitution methods.

For Year 11, Max tackled polynomial division by linear expressions and practiced finding solutions for cubic functions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 algebra, a student's fear of "functions with bigger numbers" led to avoidance and hesitation—resulting in incomplete working and missed practice opportunities.

Another high schooler tackling dilation of functions left report writing until the last minute, causing rushed submissions and less time for feedback; as one tutor observed, "try starting report writing earlier to not require cramming too close to due date."

In Year 6 maths, messy written work and skipping steps in division made it difficult to identify where mistakes occurred, prolonging confusion during homework review. These process habits directly impacted confidence and progress.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Wandi recently noticed a big change with a Year 10 student who used to get stuck on quadratic equations—she now confidently recognises no real solution exists and can spot her own past mistakes.

In Year 8, another student who was hesitant to ask for help during algebra lessons has started speaking up whenever unsure, which is a shift from his old habit of guessing quietly.

Meanwhile, one younger student has begun using "greater than" and "less than" symbols independently after previously mixing them up, even drawing the arrows correctly without reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Success Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Honeywood Primary School.
