i believe a tutor has to have a solid understanding of all content to provide the best support to a student, has to be patient, must know a range of way to approach a question, and must be readily available to answer questions through online or in person, and a tutor should be friendly and willing to have fun with the lesson so as it doesn't…

The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to understand how the student learns. By knowing the students learning preferences and ability the tutor can tailor their approach to individuals rather than utilising a blanket approach, which can often leave some students behind. My strengths lie in the ability to communicate ideas or…

Overall, being there for a student which can greatly impact their learning, forming a bond that more or less they wouldn’t create with their teachers. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to never give up on them. Such a tutor, whom is demotivating, doesn't care and has a lack of patience will also cause the student to reflect the same behaviour towards the area of difficulty. Just being a support for the student in question. Now, obviously, the first idea to jump to there is academically, and this is super important, of course, but also school is a naturally difficult time for a lot of students for a large variety of reasons, and even if the tutor nor student realize it, being there to help dealing with it is a massive…

To not show them the answer straight away. Push the student to understand what they are doing, and use the knowledge that they have learnt to solve the problem. There is no point in getting a question wrong, looking at the answer and saying 'I will do that next time'. It is essential that they can do the questions individually and confidently. I…

The most important role a tutor can play is showing constant and unconditional support for their student. I believe the most important thing is to help and guide students through the HSC period, and their choices after the HSC. My weakness is that I am a quiet person and I don't talk a lot unless it is with close friends,…

We decided to use EzyMath when our daughter started High School. We were partnered up with a fabulous tutor. She made Maths enjoyable and easier to understand as well as being easy going and friendly. On dealing with EzyMath head office on a monthly basis, they were professional, prompt with dealing with any queries and very accommodating. I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a tutor.

Inside AbbotsburyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jamie worked on applying Pythagoras' Theorem to various triangle problems and used Venn diagrams for calculating probabilities.

In Year 10, Sarah focused on graphing parabolas by identifying intercepts and turning points, then practised shifting parabolas horizontally and vertically.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Jonathon revised the laws of logarithms through challenging practice questions and tackled differentiation problems using first principles.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student hesitated to start solving questions in class, leading to delays: "He takes too long to take the first step, to start."

In senior English (Year 11), another found it difficult to link analysis directly back to the question and struggled with using PETAL effectively for short answers.

For Year 8 maths, one learner relied on brief, one-word responses and rarely voiced his reasoning aloud—confidence issues limited deeper discussion.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 student over-complicated straightforward calculus problems, causing her to get stuck rather than progressing smoothly through differentiation tasks. The moment stretched out as uncertainty replaced momentum.

Recent Achievements

One Abbotsbury tutor noticed a Year 11 student has become much more independent, now walking through her thought process out loud and explaining solutions step-by-step—something she rarely did before.

In another session, a high schooler who used to hesitate when faced with new question types started attempting every problem on his assignment, even if unsure, showing real initiative instead of waiting for guidance.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who previously guessed at answers is now confidently asking questions whenever he gets stuck and was able to finish all the percentage problems in his pre-test without any help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Green Valley Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Edensor Park Public School.
