Software Dev Tutor Kent Town, SA
I believe patience and empathy toward students who are struggling is one of the most important factors while being a tutor. I also posses organisational and planning skills so that I can structure lessons and prepare for sessions effectively so that all sessions are optimised. Adaptation to a student’s learning pace is also very crucial as each…

Software Dev Tutor Kent Town, SA
Being a tutor, one can do a lot of things for a student apart from teaching. A tutor has the responsibility of mentoring the students in career and general life. The tutor should be empathetic and able to understand the student to provide relevant support. I am a high achiever myself. Being a uni student, I can relate to the students' problems in…

Communication is great and informative, when EZY Math assigned a tutor for my daughter that I did not want they were great about finding another person more suitable to our needs.

Inside AthelstoneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Alex worked on consolidating multiplication facts, especially the 6 and 7 times tables, and practised finding perimeter and area of rectangles using diagrams.

In Year 9, James focused on solving linear equations and identifying x- and y-intercepts when graphing lines from equations.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Priya explored trigonometry by applying the cosine rule to solve triangle problems and used a cheat sheet for extra practice ahead of her upcoming test.

Recent Challenges

Several process challenges emerged across primary and high school levels.

In Year 4 maths, incomplete homework was a repeated concern—"Kalani should remember to do her homework," noted after multiple subtraction and times table sessions, leaving gaps in revision.

A Year 9 student came to lessons without books, which meant "less related questions" could be tackled that week.

In senior maths (Year 11), over-reliance on calculators surfaced during standard deviation tasks; when asked to work manually, confusion slowed progress.

One tutor observed a Year 8 student organizing ideas for English assignments but struggling to format them clearly, making conclusions harder to draft confidently.

Recent Achievements

One Athelstone tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously struggled with test mistakes now quickly pinpointing where she went wrong and independently correcting her working—something she hesitated to attempt last term.

In another session, a Year 9 student who used to rely heavily on prompting surprised her tutor by solving challenging equations almost entirely on her own after just one walkthrough.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who would often rush through word problems is now pausing to underline key information before answering, leading her to finish every question in the set correctly this week.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Campbelltown Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Athelstone School.
