Chemistry can seem abstract, learning about elements and matter, how equilibrium occurs and how chemical systems react. No wonder students get discouraged.
All it takes for a student to go from a mild distaste for chemistry to understanding what is scribbled in the textbook is someone to point out what to avoid and where to put in that extra hour of revision. It's like with any problem situation in schooling and even in their personal life, students need to know about using effective strategies. Then all you need is persistence, staying on task until you reach your goal.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Trinity knows to put pen to paper and write tables so that she can do the sums right. She needs to work on back checking as she solves the sums correctly but in the end make minute mistakes which in maths can cause her marks. We both need to work together for her note taking and confidence. I am working with her so that she knows its ok to be wrong and with continuous practice she will be get confident.
It is good that Nicholas knows what his weak topics are - it helps us focus on the necessary topics. I do know that Nic will have quite a lot of work from school but it would be great if he finishes all the homework we agreed on.
Mixed numbers: Fractions and decimals, multiplication and division Sara should practice a few questions a day or every second day in order to understand these types of questions. They will get easier with practice!!
Thanks for the reports. Michael is fantastic. James and I both really like him and he is a very dedicated and diligent tutor.
We are very comfortable with Anne's tutoring of Tim and we think there has been a steady improvement.
Your help is very much appreciated. I'm very happy with Nathan and Mason finds him very supportive. Mason does lack study skills and Nathan has been great in getting Mason focused.
