Physics is such a vast area, it's easy to get lost. While a lot of the content can be simply memorised, which many students still do, physics also requires higher-order thinking. Understanding the scientific method isn't a small task. All of these demands in a short period of time and with exams coming closer and closer, no wonder students shy away from science subjects. The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Molly is developing her learning strategies at a healthy pace. This includes back checking, talking aloud (though sometimes distracted when in deep thought), okay to be wrong and formatting skills. As a result, Molly's confidence has been slowly building.
Positive, attentive and hardworking Consistently puts in effort both during and between our tutoring sessions. I have noticed that much of her school mathematics homework seems very easy for her and believe Ailish would benefit greatly from seeking out more challenging problems. Work is always fully completed, marked and errors corrected which is excellent. Does have a habit of writing over her work when making corrections and should try and remember to just cross out incorrect work and rewrite it.
Main area of concern is his rule dependence. I encourage Hamish to ask questions if he does not understand why we are applying these rules as opposed to simply remembering formulas. I also recommend Hamish check over his work after he has completed a question more often His dependence on rules does at times limit him, especially with more complex problems.
Katie is great and things are all going very well. Both Michaela and I like Katie very much.
Thanks for organising Matt for tutoring. Tom had a great first session with him and said he 'got heaps' out of the experience.
Maryanne was fantastic, the confidence I saw in my daughter this morning was amazing and that was only with one session. Thank you for sending Maryanne our way.
