The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Brodie's learning strategies of talking aloud and pen to paper have improved a lot. By developing a general strategy to solve problems (factorising, graphing functions), it has allowed him to talk through the process in his head and write down information that helps him brainstorm ideas for any question and know where to start. Not knowing how to start the harder questions was a problem at the beginning and is a huge time waster in exams, so this is a big improvement.
Emilee has a very positive attitude towards the tutoring sessions which is perfect Emilee could put a bit more effort into her presentation of her working out but other than that she gives it her all when it comes to solving questions. Emilee is always prepared no matter what topic she is on. Her mind tends to trail sometimes when she is bored but for the most part she is very focused
-Concise writing still needs some work - sometimes using too many words for a simple idea (this is improving though) -Finding and memorising quotes that have clear literary devices, which can then be analysed in an essay
We had the first session with Nick today and he was fantastic! He focused on the right areas and really engaged with Yvette....I think we are on the right track.
Tabinder has made Leon come a long way in the last 2 weeks and he is quite proud of his achievements.
Dakshi has been a wonderful tutor and if she is available next year we would love to have her back.
