I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to understand their needs and any difficulties they are facing along their academic journey and come up with various solutions rather than just teaching. Also, I believe customised tutoring sessions are particularly helpful in education as students learn differently. Thus,…

The most important thing I can do for a student is to make them feel truly listened to and understood. By creating an environment where they feel safe to ask questions and express their concerns, I help them build trust and confidence. The most important things a tutor can do for a student are build confidence, create understanding, and encourage independence. A tutor should make learning feel approachable by providing clear explanations and a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. Building confidence is just as important as improving grades,…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, foster independent thinking, and create a safe, supportive space for learning. A good tutor doesn’t just help students get the right answers—they help them understand the ‘why’ behind concepts and develop the skills to tackle problems on their…

It is important to have a positive and passionate attitude towards learning. A tutor must also be able to understand the student's strengths and weaknesses and utilise these to cater for a constructive learning experience. It is also important to set goals for a student so that they find the learning experience rewarding and stay on top of their…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to try their very best in every aspect for their student. For example, if a student is struggling, they can change up parts of the lesson to teach them in a way the students find easier to understand. I believe when the tutor is trying their best, the energy is reciprocated by the student as they…

Local Reviews

David did come over yesterday for a lesson with Kyle. Like you mentioned, he is a diligent and competent tutor with experience in teaching. He did put in a lot of effort even before he arrived to make sure he knew what he was dealing with. I am very happy and impressed with his teaching. Just wish we had found him earlier!

Inside BullaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Arjun worked on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions as well as exploring the perimeter and area of solids.

In Year 11, Leah focused on financial mathematics topics such as compound interest and reducing balance loans, including practice with a financial calculator.

For Year 12, Matt tackled networks and graphs by analyzing different types of connections within graph structures using diagrams to aid understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student arrived to tutoring without a textbook, pen, or paper and seemed unmotivated; as one tutor put it, "he was confident with his answers (although wrong)." This led to avoidable mistakes in algebra and left little room for productive feedback.

In senior sessions, another student struggled with test time management—running out of time on longer questions meant they missed opportunities to demonstrate understanding.

Meanwhile, a primary student avoided writing working for maths patterns due to fear of making errors, which made it difficult to identify where their reasoning broke down during the session.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Bulla recently noticed a big shift with one Year 11 student who used to hesitate during revision but is now actively problem-solving and asking for more challenging questions on her own.

In another high school session, a student mastered a brand-new method after struggling at first—she worked through each step independently and finished the lesson without needing extra support.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student, who previously waited for help before attempting worded maths problems, has started drawing diagrams herself and completed all her assigned homework without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Sydenham Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Overnewton Anglican Community College - Canowindra Campus.
