That is easy. The most important thing is to inspire them and engage their curiosity. To be more interesting than a teacher trying to teach a class, and to show the student /s that learning is beneficial, fun, and not-dreary schoolwork. Gamification can be used here, and exposing the student to new texts above the level they are used to, so as to…

To listen and make the learning experience enjoyable. The best way to learn is to do it in a way that does not stress you out, make it easy to understand. I think my strengths would be my kindness and approachability as well as a real drive to teach. My weakness I would say would probably be haveing a hard time giving negative…

A tutor is someone who is there for the student and always willing to help them succeed. They do this by understanding the student's goals and adjusting their learning style to better suit the student's needs. To learn the nature of the student's mind and how their brain processes information, so that a lesson plan can be tailored to their specific needs. There are many ways an individual can learn, and the most valuable thing a tutor can do is explain the information in a way that connects with the student's own learning capabilities. A tutor must be…

A tutor needs to be understanding, and respectful. They must realise that students don't all learn at the same pace and thus must be able to maintain the learning pace with their student. They must also be respectful that student's are trying their best and must not be too pushing and must remain patient with their student. I am knowledgable in…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them feel confident enough in themselves and their abilities to succeed. A tutor should not simply give the answers to their students, but do what they can to provide the support for the students to reach the correct answers themselves. Confidence is a key element that tutors can either instil or take away from a student. All children are born with a capacity to learn and it is our job to help them realise their great potential. In saying that, tutors must always be kind, encouraging and supportive of a child so that they can be confident enough to venture into the unknown and…

A tutor needs to be able to successfully teach the student the material but also needs to provide the motivation and confidence a student needs to study and conquer any tests/exams. Students study around the clock, thus a tutor needs to be available when assistance is most required to provide the necessary support. Also recognise that many things…

It is wise for a tutor to instill within the student a sense of excitement and confidence. Excitement stems from a meaningful process of learning, and confidence comes about at the solving of the process. Also important is the establishment of a pleasant rapport with the student. A tendency to burn the candle at both ends has in the past…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to give them confidence in their abilities. I believe that a tutor's most important job is to build a student's confidence. A tutor should always express appreciation and pride for improvements shown by the student- no matter how big or small the progress is. Local Reviews

I was looking for a tutor for my child and found it complicated and confusing looking online at all the different options. I also didn't know if I could trust these people that weren't in a company. I found EzyMath and was very pleased with their level of communication. My child was matched with a very friendly, professional tutor. She gave my child confidence very quickly and I have seen my childs school marks go up so much the teacher asked me what we were doing at home. I highly recommend Ezymath.

Inside BundooraTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Bailey worked through mean, median, and mode as well as standard deviation and interquartile range for statistics, often applying these concepts to real data sets.

Another Year 12 student revised vector functions and prepared for an upcoming SAC on vectors, with particular attention to notation and application problems.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student covered indices and logarithms in detail, solving a range of practice questions to build confidence before moving onto exponential equations.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 Methods, one student's "rigid" approach meant he missed alternative strategies when questions didn't match his expectations, as a tutor noted: "if the question didn't specify to use something, he often won't think of it himself."

For another senior student, juggling four different textbooks left him struggling to connect ideas—during tests, this scattershot method caused confusion and made recall harder.

Meanwhile, in Year 8 algebra revision, an over-focus on practical problems led to neglected fundamentals; key concepts slipped through the cracks because less familiar topics were avoided.

On high-pressure exam days, moments of panic compounded errors rather than resolving them.

Recent Achievements

A Bundoora tutoring session recently highlighted Bailey's progress in high school maths—he's now independently identifying errors in textbook answers, a step up from when he would simply accept solutions without question.

Another tutor noted that Noah, also in high school, has begun bridging gaps between concepts and is more willing to attempt challenging problems instead of skipping them as he used to.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student surprised their tutor by tackling multi-step word problems on their own after previously needing every step explained.

Last week, Bailey chose to work solo on new material and managed all ten questions without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Watsonia Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Watsonia North Primary School.
