A tutor should be able to make subjects understandable and enjoyable for their students so they get to learn it easier and faster. They should be able to impart knowledge in many different ways in order to have the capacity to teach people who learn in different ways. I'm really patient with people, especially children. I really enjoy being able…

Building their confidence rather than shattering it. Too many tutors often put their students down if they misunderstood a concept. I want to strive to be a tutor that becomes apart of their academic journey. I think my ability to clearly communicate my concepts enhances my ability to be an effective tutor. When it comes to tutoring mathematics, I believe the most important role is to help students develop an understanding behind why formulas work and where they came from. I also believe helping students to understand the idea intuitively is crucial, as they can use this knowledge to ace their upcoming exams and homework assignments. Ultimately, I…

Tutors should be able to provide students with a deep, thorough understanding of the coursework they are struggling with, while developing their confidence and positive behaviour for learning the respective material at hand. A tutor should not only teach the student the material, but also mentor them to make sure that they can perform effectively…

A tutor has to be kind and reasonable, a tutor is not a teacher so there is not the same expectations. A tutor is there to help you learn in the journey, they strength your knowledge and abilities. Inside CawdorTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Ava focused on data and statistics, reviewing dot plots and stem-and-leaf plots, as well as surface area calculations for cylinders.

For Year 11, Sam worked through trigonometric identities and began solving trigonometric equations, using graph sketches to support understanding.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Oliver practiced advanced calculus by tackling differentiation and integration of logarithmic functions, applying these skills to real HSC-style exam questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student came to a geometry test without reviewing, focusing only on easy revision, which meant she hadn't practiced the trickier angle questions and felt unprepared when faced with new formats.

In Year 11, messy written work in calculus made it hard to spot where sign errors crept into differentiation steps—one note read, steps for max/min problems were scattered across the page.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student repeatedly left fraction homework incomplete, missing valuable feedback and practice.

During a senior integration task, one student avoided attempting unfamiliar wording in questions and left sections blank.

Recent Achievements

One Cawdor tutor recently noticed a Year 8 student who had struggled with long multiplication now volunteering to work through multi-step problems out loud and only needing small prompts, which is a big change from her earlier hesitance.

In a Year 10 maths session, a student who used to mix up when to multiply or divide in equations has started solving them efficiently on her own and even asks for help right away when unsure instead of waiting.

Meanwhile, one of the senior students managed all the integration questions on their practice set without needing to double-check answers.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Camden Council Library Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like Cawdor Public School.
