Ancient History Tutor Woy Woy, NSW
I think that whilst having adaptive teaching methods is important, ensuring the student constantly feels supported and motivated by the tutor is vital. For me, in school no matter how much I was struggling (especially in maths) I found that having a great, understanding teacher, allowed me to not be afraid of asking ‘stupid’ questions. So for…

Local Reviews

Hannah is calm, patient , proficient , punctual and perfect match with my daughter. She is flexible in her approach and will work on what's needed by the individual in that lesson rather than impose a schedule of teaching. Since commencing coaching with Hannah my daughter is more confident in her approach to HSC maths and her performance has definitely improved in class and in her exam results. We are very happy with her. Thanks Hannah.

Inside Cogra BayTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Aiden practised multiplying fractions by whole numbers and converting between improper fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals using visual models.

For Year 8, Olivia focused on rearranging formulae to change the subject and substituting values into equations for homework support.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Lucas tackled questions involving area by rearranging formulas to find dimensions and calculating areas of composite shapes in multi-step problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student lost marks in recent tests due to not writing out working for surds and algebra, despite "full pages with no working" being noted; this made it impossible to identify where mistakes occurred.

In a Year 8 probability lesson, confusion arose when he "got mixed up between favourable outcomes and the probability itself," leading to incorrect fractions.

For a Year 4 division task, misplacement of digits during long division slowed progress and created errors.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student struggled to choose the correct formula (BAC vs hours-to-wait) in data questions because key instructions were missed when reading prompts quickly.

Recent Achievements

One Cogra Bay tutor noticed a Year 10 student who previously hesitated with rearranging algebraic formulas now tackles substitution tasks independently, even asking to try extra questions.

A Year 8 student, who used to avoid geometry problems, showed new initiative by drawing out worded questions herself and applying formulas without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student surprised his tutor by fluently multiplying two-digit numbers and quickly converting between units of measurement—a big step up from last term's slow, hesitant calculations.

At the end of one session, he completed all division questions accurately in a timed quizlet challenge.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Umina Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Brooklyn Public School.
