In my perspective the best thing the tutor can do for the student is to understand the child completely, make a good bond with them and help them to learn infinite things. My strengths as a teacher are I understand the child by the face expressions, my teaching concept is pretty much strong and before teaching any child I make sure to plan the…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to provide clear explanations, be patient, and foster a supportive learning environment. A tutor should adapt their teaching methods to the student's needs, encourage critical thinking, and build the students confidence in their abilities. This helps the student not only understand the…

Inside Dean ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ava practised subtracting four-digit numbers and reviewed strategies for tackling five-digit numbers.

In Year 8, Josh worked on algebra skills by solving equations involving fractions and identifying the point of intersection between lines.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sarah focused on advanced trigonometry, applying the sine rule to find unknown angles and using the cosine rule to calculate triangle side lengths in non-right-angled scenarios.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often rushed through multi-step problems in fractions, leading to missed working and confusion when reviewing errors—one tutor noted, "his homework was quite challenging to read," as cramped layout made mistakes hard to spot.

In Year 10 algebra, a student hesitated to write out steps due to uncertainty, so sign errors slipped past unnoticed.

Another (Year 7) struggled to keep work organized; forgotten or misplaced homework meant time was lost searching for notes instead of practicing new material.

When a Year 11 attempted trigonometry questions, skipping calculator checks led to repeated angle mix-ups and incomplete answers.

Recent Achievements

One Dean Park tutor noticed a real shift with Nick, a high school student who previously needed frequent help on algebraic fractions—he simplified complex expressions and solved equations almost independently. James, another high schooler, had been hesitant about simultaneous equations but now confidently eliminates variables and substitutes to find solutions on his own.

Meanwhile, Aaron in primary has started tackling division algorithms without reminders; he now volunteers strategies for practical word problems and checks his answers before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mt Druitt Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like William Dean Public School.
