PDHPE Tutor Prospect, NSW
I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, support their individual learning needs, and foster a genuine understanding of the subject. It's not just about helping them get the right answers, but about teaching them how to approach problems, think critically, and develop independent learning…

Firstly, building confidence is crucial, as it helps students believe in their abilities and improves their performance. Individualised learning is also important as tailoring lessons to meet each student's unique needs and learning styles ensures they grasp concepts effectively. I also think fostering a love for learning, making education…

I say availability as the saying says, you need to learn something 13 times to fully remember it, I will always try my best to help my students even not in class time. I am patient and show an extended understanding of the content I know. I am easily able to make analogies which can put hard terms in a light in which the student can…

CLEAR ALL THE DOUBTS, without any hesitation. Because it isn't a classroom in the school. Make the subject as transparent and clear as possible. Make the study material as organised and easy to access as possible. I believe myself to be resilient and a great problem solver and always have loved to help others in all sorts of situations. I can…

A tutor should provide guidance and assistance at all costs for the student they are teaching. It is the tutors responsibility to do the best they can in order to help the student reach their potential. A tutor should sometimes take a step further to care for the student and a lot of the times the student will reciprocate your effort to create a…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to encourage the student and build their skills enough where they have the confidence to feel as though they can do their subject with no help from their tutor. Basically the tutor them and encourage them enough to the point where they do not need you anymore. My strengths are in tutoring is…

Inside DoonsideTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Mia practised solving one-step algebraic equations and explored angles through targeted problem sets.

For Year 10, Daniel worked on trigonometry, including applications of the cosine rule, as well as financial mathematics involving interest calculations.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Priya focused on HSC revision using past papers, tackling advanced algebra, geometry problems, and consolidating her understanding of measurement concepts.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often checked answers only after finishing all questions, rather than step-by-step—mistakes sometimes went unnoticed until the very end, as one tutor observed during algebra tasks.

In Year 11 mathematics, revision focused mainly on familiar types, avoiding more difficult or unfamiliar problems from recent HSC practice papers.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner skipped writing out working in multi-step word problems, which made it hard to trace errors and slowed improvement when reviewing with feedback. This approach left gaps unaddressed and made exam preparation feel overwhelming as deadlines approached.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Doonside recently saw a Year 11 student, who used to get stuck on multi-step trigonometry problems, now confidently apply the sine and cosine rules to solve them without prompting.

In a Year 9 session, a student who often rushed through algebra questions is now taking time to connect concepts together and learn from mistakes between lessons.

Meanwhile, one of the younger students has started attempting worded maths problems independently instead of waiting for hints—she finished her latest worksheet by applying skills she'd learned in earlier sessions.
