In my perspective the best thing the tutor can do for the student is to understand the child completely, make a good bond with them and help them to learn infinite things. My strengths as a teacher are I understand the child by the face expressions, my teaching concept is pretty much strong and before teaching any child I make sure to plan the…

A tutor's role goes beyond just imparting knowledge. They should build confidence and self-belief, create a personalized and supportive learning environment, and encourage active learning and critical thinking. Clear explanations, achievable goals, and constructive feedback are essential. A tutor should also foster independence, provide guidance…

Focus on his weaknesses and try to overcome them. I think it is really essential to maintain a genuine environment under which students an freely ask about their queries. So, most importantly, a tutor should build a genuine atmosphere of learning. I can easily be understood and my ways to explain things are great. In a teaching environment, it is…

Marks are important, but they’re not everything. What truly matters is the attitude you bring to learning and your willingness to grow. As a tutor, I focus on helping students develop confidence, resilience, and the skills they need to succeed—not just academically, but in life. Achieving a 95 ATAR at The Ponds High School showcased my ability…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them understand what they themselves cannot. I believe it is a tutors job to also provide resources but the most important thing is to actually teach them what they cannot understand and once the tutor has done that then they can provide the adequate worksheets and past papers to…

The most important thing a tutor can do is to realise when a student actually understands a topic, or if they need more help. Too often students will say that they understand but they don't want to admit they still don't. The tutor should be able to break down a subject in multiple ways, and choose which way fits particular students' learning…

I can customise the lessons and activities just for your child. 2. I get to know your child’s individual learning style and can adapt teaching methods accordingly. 3.I will prepare your…

The most important thing which a tutor can do for a student is to make him understand the concept instead of just showing him how to solve the problems. I think the most important thing a tutor can do is help students believe in themselves. When students feel confident, they’re more open to learning and tackling challenges. A good tutor creates a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without fear of judgment. It’s also about making lessons relatable and…

A tutor should provide guidance and assistance at all costs for the student they are teaching. The most important thing to be done, rather than jumping directly into the syllabus, is to listen to the students express their strengths and weaknesses in the subject. Inside DoonsideTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Mia practised solving one-step algebraic equations and explored angles through targeted problem sets.

For Year 10, Daniel worked on trigonometry, including applications of the cosine rule, as well as financial mathematics involving interest calculations.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Priya focused on HSC revision using past papers, tackling advanced algebra, geometry problems, and consolidating her understanding of measurement concepts.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often checked answers only after finishing all questions, rather than step-by-step—mistakes sometimes went unnoticed until the very end, as one tutor observed during algebra tasks.

In Year 11 mathematics, revision focused mainly on familiar types, avoiding more difficult or unfamiliar problems from recent HSC practice papers.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner skipped writing out working in multi-step word problems, which made it hard to trace errors and slowed improvement when reviewing with feedback. This approach left gaps unaddressed and made exam preparation feel overwhelming as deadlines approached.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Doonside recently saw a Year 11 student, who used to get stuck on multi-step trigonometry problems, now confidently apply the sine and cosine rules to solve them without prompting.

In a Year 9 session, a student who often rushed through algebra questions is now taking time to connect concepts together and learn from mistakes between lessons.

Meanwhile, one of the younger students has started attempting worded maths problems independently instead of waiting for hints—she finished her latest worksheet by applying skills she'd learned in earlier sessions.

Local Spots for Tutoring
