Adaptive style of studying, I don't believe in a one size fits all method. I prefer to teach students to take responsibility and not micro manage their studying process. I believe that the…

Inside FernhillTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Jessica explored **moles, valence shells, chemical bonding, and isotopes** to build confidence with foundational chemistry concepts.

In Year 12, Ethan focused on **electron configuration using spdf notation** and analysed intermolecular forces relevant to his current physics unit.

Meanwhile, Zali in Year 4 practised times tables and made **strong progress** by working through multiplication challenges using oral recall and targeted worksheets.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Chemistry, a student had not yet prepared notes from class slides before tutoring sessions, which left her underprepared for upcoming molecular weight and electron configuration topics.

In Year 10 Maths, another student's written work lacked structure: "she should keep worksheets and working out more concise and organised," making revision harder.

A Year 8 student often practiced only familiar exponents but avoided tackling harder problems—this limited confidence in assessments.

Meanwhile, in Year 5, one child struggled to complete set homework consistently; tasks remained unfinished and revision routines were disrupted by this lack of follow-through.

Recent Achievements

One Fernhill tutor noticed a high school student who used to rush through maths problems now taking time to carefully evaluate each question, especially when working with negative numbers and long division; she's begun using mental strategies instead of guessing.

Another recent Fernhill tutoring session saw a Year 10 student proactively set her own academic goals, breaking down assessment tasks independently and asking targeted questions—whereas before she was reluctant to speak up.

Meanwhile, a younger student has stopped relying on finger counting for timetables and now volunteers to solve them aloud during lessons.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Corrimal District Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Tarrawanna Public School.
