A good tutor can inspire the student to learn. A good tutor can help the student to realise his potential and apply what he is taught confidently and effectively. A good tutor can help make the subject more interesting for the student to learn. I focus on the base of the concepts rather than what is written in the book. I like to build the base…

We were very happy with the tutoring in Term 3 and would love it to continue in Term 4. River has clicked well with Ben and is enjoying the sessions.

Inside KerangTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 Zane worked on linear equations and interpreting graphs in maths, while in English focused on character concepts from the novel *Wonder* and developing "show, don't tell" writing.

For Year 10 Ruby, sessions involved expanding and factorising quadratic expressions as well as drafting a structured English essay.

Meanwhile, Year 11 Sam practised drawing boxplots using the CAS calculator and analysed data for outliers by calculating interquartile ranges and identifying upper/lower fences.

Recent Challenges

The Year 11 student had not reviewed key concepts like the unit circle or annuities, despite being given revision resources, which impacted preparation for the upcoming maths test.

In Year 7, a student did not complete spelling and English homework to their usual standard, making it harder to meet learning goals.

The Year 9 student missed their previous maths test and we were unable to find it, so valuable feedback couldn't be discussed, leaving uncertainty about mistakes. These lapses led to gaps that limited readiness and confidence before assessments.

Recent Achievements

One Kerang tutor saw a Year 11 student who initially hesitated with matrix worded problems, but by session's end was independently solving them and using transition matrices to calculate percentage changes.

In another high school session, a student who'd always struggled to get homework done on time turned in their most organised folder yet—neatly completed, with more correct answers than ever before.

Meanwhile, a younger student working on long division began the lesson unsure and mixing up the steps, but after practicing the four-step method, solved several problems accurately with only minimal help.
