To be attentive and to address the students personal needs for growth. The tutor should set an ideal example in terms of behaviour motivation and actions- one which a student should be able to look up to but also resonate with. This allows him to engage with the student at a personal level and provide better more relatable academic support, but…

Teach them the methods and concepts, not answers. By doing so we are ensuring the students can solve any problem as they know how to. The tutors should adapt to the way the student learns, and change the way they teach if the student isn't understanding. Some of my strengths would include, being patient which I believe is important for a tutor…

Inside Kings ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Jacqui revised long division, multiplication, and indices in preparation for her recent test.

For Year 8, Alysse focused on compound interest calculations and completed a financial maths assessment task using worked examples.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Grace practised algebraic techniques including simplifying and expanding expressions as well as applying the trapezoidal rule to solve area problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly left out written steps in algebra, making it hard to spot sign errors—"he wrote just answers, so we couldn't see where negatives went wrong."

In a Year 11 trigonometry session, reliance on last-minute cramming led to gaps with new material after weeks focused only on algebra.

One Year 4 student's messy working and unclear layout during BODMAS questions meant mistakes were harder to track and correct.

During a senior English essay task, skipping feedback meant language techniques weren't improved for the next draft.

Moments like these slowed progress and built frustration as deadlines approached.

Recent Achievements

In Year 10, Alysse received a 95% on her recent maths assessment after previously needing extra help with equations and now quickly picking up new problem types.

Jacqui, a high schooler, used to rush through questions and make mistakes but has started taking time to check answers and applies feedback independently during sessions.

Meanwhile, Michael in primary school moved from needing support for basic addition to completing place value and measurement tasks without help—last week he answered every question correctly on his own.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lalor Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Marayong Heights Public School.
