I think the most important thing would be to show students that education is fun, it should never be boring. A good teacher should be able to explain and teach in a fun and intuitive way. My key strengths would be my technical knowledge and being able to understand not each student is alike, not each student learns the same way. Therefore…

A tutor is an important role and a mentor. Students select tutors because they have the enthusiasm to learn and perhaps do not have the resources needed which a tutor can fill in. I am calm, patient and have an insight to give my best so that people can benefit from me. I want children to excel and do well beyond they can dream…

I feel each student will be different and their way of understanding and learning is different. As a tutor the most important thing would be to understand your student and then effectively convey the information you have to them depending on their abilities and level of understanding. As a tutor I feel its important to ensure the student feels…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is build trust and confidence. A student should feel comfortable asking questions without fear of being judged. Beyond improving grades, a tutor should help students develop study habits, problem-solving skills, and self-belief so they can succeed on their own too. My main strengths are patience…

Be approachable that way the students feel comfortable askinng questions when they don't understand something. Keyan was a very patient and flexible tutor, who significantly helped to improve my year 12 marks in advanced and extension 1 maths, in preparation for my HSC. He is very calm and had no problem covering topics again that I would find difficult. He went out of his way to provide me textbooks, past papers and many helpful resources and was always very efficient in getting back to me as fast as possible if I had any questions that weren't during our sessions. he helped me achieve marks that I didn't know I was capable of in my HSC and I highly recommend him as a tutor

Inside KirkhamTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Emma practised adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions, as well as applying PEMDAS to mixed operation questions.

In Year 10, Jared worked on solving simultaneous equations and improving note-taking using colour and visual aids ahead of his upcoming HSC exams.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Kyle focused on physics concepts such as the difference between scalar and vector quantities and converting velocity units from kilometres per hour to metres per second.

Recent Challenges

Homework completion was a recurring issue across multiple years: in Year 11 Physics, homework was often incomplete or only started minutes before sessions ("Homework clearly started 5 mins before my arrival"), and a Year 12 student missed assigned practice tests entirely.

Organization concerns also surfaced—one senior English student repeatedly arrived without their book or past work, limiting targeted feedback and revision.

In Chemistry (Year 11), note-taking lacked clarity and structure; "needs to improve her note taking and the use of colour for example to show the equations."

In Algebra for Year 10, skipping working steps made sign errors hard to spot, slowing progress during problem-solving.

Recent Achievements

A Kirkham tutor recently noticed Kyle, a Year 11 student, beginning to bring his own notebook for Physics and actively jotting down definitions and diagrams—something he hadn't done before—which is helping him remember key concepts like static and kinetic friction.

In Year 12 Maths, Ava worked through quadratic equations and started explaining her steps out loud as she solved problems, showing real independence compared to when she needed prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who used to guess at answers now takes time to ask clarifying questions before tackling fraction rules, leading to fewer mistakes in homework last week.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Narellan Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Elderslie High School.
