Obviously bumping up grades. But before that comes there is the massive component where the tutor is able to let the student feel like they actually know what they're doing. Instilling confidence in someone and helping them to not feel dumb can change the way they approach learning and improve everything about their academic life. Coming from…

Most students end up investing in a tutor as they have not been taught the skills to synthesise concepts and study themselves. My aim as a tutor is to inspire students to be independent learners by providing them with the supplies, support, and motivation to continue what they have learned by themselves at home. Tutoring only occurs for a short…

The most crucial thing a tutor can do for a student is to be adaptable and have strong communication skills. Adability is crucial because not every student learns in the same way. I always adjust my approach in accordance with the needs and areas of difficulty of the student. It's crucial that I continue to be adaptable so that I can modify my…

One of the most important things a tutor can do for the student is to be flexible in their teaching methods and approaches to learning/teaching content as there are so many different learning styles out there and they are there with us because they may be having trouble with the teaching methods used at school. In those cases in particular, it's…

Local Reviews

We are travelling around Australia with our 11 year old daughter, and needed just a little help with homeschooling. I had previously downloaded the free yr 6 maths worksheets ( which were great), and so when we decided to get some extra help, Ezymaths was my first call ( even though I had done significant research into other providers). From the first call, right through to now, after roughly 10 hours of online tutoring, the whole experience has been outstanding!! The staff at Ezymaths have been friendly and helpful, and our tutor, Jessica, is brilliant with our daughter who really looks forward to the sessions. Because of our travelling, we were unable to commit to a set schedule, but Jessica and the team have been great and very accomodating with booking sesssions to suit. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND EZYMATHS TO ANYONE CONSIDERING TUTORING SERVICES........ especially if you are travelling!

Inside Main BeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Eden focused on subtraction strategies and then practiced translating word problems into mathematical equations.

In Year 9, Ava worked through exam revision covering geometry and linear algebra using recent practice tests.

For Year 12, Michael prepared for assessment by tackling optimisation problems—calculating maximum area with second derivatives—and reviewing differentiation rules like the product and chain rule.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Specialist Maths, a student hesitated to double-check answers during practice tests, missing small errors that "could be easily corrected," as one tutor noted.

Another Year 10 student tackling simultaneous equations struggled to organize their working, sometimes skipping the step-by-step layout and getting lost in calculations.

In English (Year 9), cohesion between ideas and adapting new writing styles remained a challenge—paragraphs didn't always flow logically, which affected clarity.

Meanwhile, a primary-level learner found it difficult to translate word problems into equations without concrete aids; this reliance slowed progress on abstract tasks and made independent problem solving harder.

Recent Achievements

One Main Beach tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 11 student who, after previously getting stuck on mock test questions, independently searched for the trapezoidal rule and used it successfully to solve a challenging problem.

In another session, a Year 9 student who used to avoid sharing her reasoning started talking through domain and range questions out loud and checked her work using definitions, showing real initiative.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who'd relied on rote learning for multiplication was able to spot patterns in timestables and use concrete objects to translate word problems—she finished the lesson by explaining her process without prompts.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Southport Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like The Southport School.
