The most important thing an english tutor can do for a student is to help them become confident and independent in their study. This will help the student to achieve their personal academic goals. As a black belt, I instruct at a local Taekwondo club to students between the ages of 7 and older. This has helped me learn patience, and understand…

English Tutor Seaford Meadows, SA
It is vital that an english tutor creates a welcoming, friendly and positive atmosphere to show the student that they are willing and able to help aid them in their learning. A tutor should ensure that the student feels as though they can ask questions to clarify their understanding of content and that they have control over their own learning and…

Inside Maslin BeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Charlotte practised rounding to the nearest ten and hundred, as well as multiplying by 2, 5, and 10 using times tables games.

In Year 8, Emily focused on factorising algebraic expressions (including difference of two squares) and solved basic trigonometry problems involving right-angled triangles.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Liam reviewed index laws for simplifying expressions and tackled simultaneous equations through step-by-step written methods.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4, one student frequently relied on counting with fingers for multiplication and addition, which slowed problem-solving and led to hesitancy when larger numbers appeared. "She still uses her fingers for most sums," noted a tutor after a session on times tables.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 learner avoided showing working in algebra tasks; missing steps made it difficult to spot small errors, especially with negatives or brackets.

In senior years, anxiety about starting assignments sometimes led to freezing at the first question—one session began with a long pause before any attempt was made. Confidence dips like these left several problems blank during practice tests.

Recent Achievements

One Maslin Beach tutor noticed Ciana, a high school student, moving from hesitating over simultaneous equations to completing a practice test with 100% accuracy and only asking for help once or twice—she finished within the set time too.

Lara, another secondary student who used to struggle with factorisation, can now confidently pick the correct method and expand expressions using both positive and negative numbers.

In primary sessions, Nicole—who previously relied on counting fingers for her 5 times tables—now recalls them independently and improved her rounding skills from 0% in an initial assessment to 75% on her most recent test.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Aldinga Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Aldinga Payinthi College.
