Geography Tutor Currans Hill, NSW
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is leave the client with a feeling of achievement, that they have gained a new, reinforced or re-established understanding of things they may have been uncertain or unaware about. If at the end of the day the individual feels like they haven't changed, then this, I believe is an indication of…

Geography Tutor Catherine Field, NSW
To help both their knowledge and their confidence. Feeling like you understand a topic is amazing and when a tutor can make a student feel confident and rewarded then I think they're achieving one of their main objectives. My knowledge and understanding of my subjects, especially math. Also having informally tutored I have developed strategies and…

Geography Tutor Prestons, NSW
The most important thing as a tutor for a student is to provide the best possible resources and support. This will allow the student to feel motivated and have self-confidence to complete during a test. My strengths as a tutor will be support of the students current position and understanding of the subject. Being patient is another strength as it…

Inside MintoTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student John practised calculating perimeters of various shapes and worked on estimating and converting measurements between units like metres and centimetres.

In Year 8, Lachlan tackled improper and proper fractions as well as addition and subtraction problems, using visual models where helpful.

For Year 11, Leon focused on financial mathematics by working through textbook questions involving simple and compound interest calculations.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student repeatedly skipped writing out working in algebra and graphing tasks, which caused the same sign errors to pop up each time—especially when solving for x and y.

In Year 11 trigonometry, a rushed approach led to missing important details, so homework was set to reinforce systematic question breakdown.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student's handwriting made it difficult for her to review mistakes or show her reasoning clearly in spelling and maths tests.

One younger learner avoided written work during reading practice, hesitating to try new words aloud for fear of making errors—a hesitation that lingered even after encouragement.

Recent Achievements

One Minto tutor noticed a big shift with Leon, a high school student who used to hesitate when tackling graphing questions—now he identifies equations and draws accurate graphs on his own, even explaining where functions increase or decrease.

Vasati, also in high school, has started converting tricky word problems into mathematical steps without needing prompts, which had been a stumbling block earlier for her earlier in the term.

Meanwhile, in Year 3 reading sessions, one student who previously guessed at unfamiliar words now sounds them out and tries spelling before asking for help—a change from her old habit of waiting for answers.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Greg Percival Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Minto Public School.
