For me its the concept of instilling confidence. So often children are discouraged by a challenging question and then feel incapable and worthless. This is wrong on so many levels and child should ever feel this way. The most important things a tutor can do is instill confidence in children through patiently encouraging them to never give up and…

The most important and vital thing that a tutorcan do for a student is not only the lesson itself but also the essence/importance of the study or subject matter with a touch of personality and values development. Growing up I'm a self learner and always have the passion for continuous learning and I see that as a strength. Also, I have a keen eye…

Not just simple topic understanding but also inspiring the individual to continue to pursue an understanding in their studies in a holistic sense. My strength in mathematics by far. I'm currently completing a dual degree in business management and mathematics at UQ. I would also say i am quite personable and come across as very…

Tayjah and I are very happy with Jon. Tayjah has already learnt some great tips from him. Very approachable and calm teaching approach.

Inside MoodluTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Darell worked on identifying prime and composite numbers, as well as practising operations with square and triangular numbers.

For Year 10, Rebecca tackled simplifying ratios and rates through targeted homework questions.

Meanwhile, Joshua in Year 11 focused on trigonometry skills, specifically the sine and cosine rules, by working through textbook problems.

Recent Challenges

In Year 4, Charlie missed homework on multiplication tables and didn't find time for assigned practice, so progress was slower than planned. "He didn't do any more of his homework in the last week," a tutor noted.

In Year 10 Maths, Joshua's note-taking remained inconsistent—especially compared to other subjects—which meant he struggled to recall formulas for median and quartiles during classwork.

One session saw him skip working steps: confusion built up until he needed extra help to retrace his thinking.

When faced with new equations in senior maths, hesitation to use pen and paper left gaps in understanding and delayed problem-solving.

Recent Achievements

One Moodlu tutor recently saw a big shift in a Year 11 student's approach to problem solving: Joshua, who used to hesitate, now openly asks for help when he's stuck and has started doing extra study on his own outside of class.

In Year 8, Rebecca began identifying questions she wasn't confident about and now admits when she doesn't understand something instead of guessing—this lets her get the help she needs right away.

Meanwhile, in primary school sessions, Summer has started working independently through maths problems and finished her subtraction activities without needing any prompts.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Caboolture Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Tullawong State High School.
