Treat students with respect and teach them how to treat others with respect. During my years as a student, I found it difficult to learn stuff very…

A tutor should help students understand concepts rather than just memorise solutions and build their confidence to solve problems independently. Adapting to each student's learning style and encouraging curiosity are important to help students achieve academic success. My strengths as a tutor are explaining complex concepts in a simple and…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is make sure the student clearly understands the topic, not just memorises it. It's about helping them build real confidence so that when they answer questions, whether in class or in exams, they're not second-guessing themselves. That means breaking things down in a way that actually makes sense…

The most crucial things a tutor can do for a student are making learning fun and easy, boosting their curiosity, simplifying tricky stuff, helping them feel confident, guiding them along, and being friendly. Tutors should make the subject interesting, break down tough things into simpler bits, build up a student's belief in themselves, give…

For me i guess a tutor is not just there to teach a simple or complex topic from a specific subject but a tutor can be helpful in guiding what career a student can opt and values like respect for elders and for their own self which i guess are way more important in life than any subject or topic. My strength is that i encourage students to learn a…

Build their confidence as much as their knowledge. A lot of students who struggle aren't actually bad at the subject they've just convinced themselves they are. Fixing that mindset matters as much as getting the right answer. I'm good at breaking down complex problems step by step without overcomplicating it. I also don't make students feel stupid…

Since this is a 1-on-1 tutorial, the tutor must give full attention to the student. Also to find ways to make sessions enjoyable but not to the point of sacrificing the time for teaching. The main thing is being able to effectively explain a topic or clear students' doubts. If the student is able to explain the topic to others, I believe that is a good indication of their understanding and shows that a tutor has successfully explained a topic or cleared doubts. Inside Noble ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jay tackled simultaneous equations and practiced pattern recognition by working through John Monash practice questions.

For Year 9, Lisa focused on simple interest calculations and solving more advanced simultaneous equations, using both textbook problems and applied examples.

Meanwhile, Year 4 student Noah worked on multiplication concepts—specifically two-digit by one-digit multiplication—and explored division as forming equal groups with visual aids.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 mathematics, not bringing the correct equipment and materials—despite reminders—meant lesson time was lost reorganizing instead of problem-solving. As a tutor observed, "he needs to be more diligent in keeping notes and having his materials ready for tutoring."

For a Year 9 student, an over-reliance on technology led to skipping written working in algebra; missing steps caused confusion when checking answers.

In primary (Year 3), incomplete homework limited consolidation of times tables and multiplication skills, leaving basic errors uncorrected.

After setbacks in essay writing (Year 10 English), frustration quickly set in, making it harder to recover confidence mid-task.

Recent Achievements

One Noble Park tutor noticed that a Year 9 student, Seth, who previously hesitated to ask questions when confused, has started actively seeking clarification during sessions and now explains his logic before hearing the answer—showing real independence.

In Year 10 English, Mitchell shifted from being unsure about how to start argument analyses to confidently drafting introductions on his own and identifying authors' main arguments without prompting.

Meanwhile, in Year 3 maths, Florian—who used to be quiet and unfocused—now talks through problem-solving steps out loud and checks his work independently after adopting new strategies with the whiteboard.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Dingley Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Noble Park Primary School.
