Inside North BeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Paige worked through converting fractions to decimals and percentages, and practiced multiplying numbers with decimals for improved calculation accuracy.

For Year 9, Benji focused on finding equations of linear graphs and explored the relationship between parallel and perpendicular lines using coordinate geometry examples.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ella tackled compound interest problems with multiple compounding periods, then reviewed surds basics to reinforce algebraic manipulation skills.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly did not complete set homework and struggled with identifying midpoints and non-linear correlations in coordinate geometry, leading to missed opportunities for targeted practice.

In Year 10, messy written work—especially skipping the step-by-step layout of equations—meant sign errors in algebra went unnoticed until reviewing answers ("doesn't write down the equations and doesn't understand the equations fully").

For a Year 6 learner, worded problems caused hesitation; when confused, they guessed instead of showing working, making it hard to spot misunderstandings.

During a senior session on tree diagrams (Year 12), confusion about wording led to mistakes on test questions that remained uncorrected without timely revision.

Recent Achievements

A North Beach tutoring session saw one high school student, initially anxious about compound interest, become noticeably more at ease—by the end he could clearly explain both interests without prompting.

Another secondary student who previously hesitated to tackle complex trigonometry questions began independently identifying SOH CAH TOA and solved problems with much less guidance than before.

Meanwhile, a primary student who usually waited for every instruction started finishing her homework independently almost entirely during the lesson, even expressing delight at how much she accomplished in that time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Karrinyup Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Our Lady of Grace School.
