The most important thing an economics tutor can do for a student is to give them the ability to take what they learn in the classroom outside of school. By teaching students the skills as well as the content, students will have the freedom to further pursue their interests. A passion for the subject material, the patience and communication skills…

Economics Tutor North Gosford, NSW
Being a past past studnet at many various tutoring places, the most important quality for a tutor is to able to incur a friendly yet working relationship with their students. This will help students to be comfortable enough to ask any questions about concepts they do not understand. As I have just finished high school last year, I believe I will…

Economics Tutor Central Coast, NSW
The most important thing I can do for a student is to be patient. Patience is key in facilitating the process of learning as it removes the anxiety inducing pressure of expectation and allows the student to solely focus on the content at hand. Patience also allows the student to rationalise concepts at their own pace. This has the effect of deeply…

Inside OurimbahTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Naplan focused on numeracy skills, including practice with decimal addition and operations involving fractions.

For Year 8, Liv tackled index laws such as multiplying and dividing powers—including the zero index law—and worked through powers of fractions for deeper understanding.

In Year 9, Chloe revised formulae for speed, distance and time, and addressed specific questions from her upcoming equations test to strengthen problem-solving confidence.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student frequently left module work incomplete before sessions, leading to missed opportunities for targeted revision—"he must ensure he is doing his work and understanding it so I can quiz him on it."

In Year 11 maths, over-reliance on calculators became apparent during mental maths tasks, with hesitation when questions couldn't be solved digitally.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student often arrived late or with uncharged devices, losing valuable lesson time and momentum.

For one senior English student, feedback on essays was limited because not enough written material was submitted for review.

When technical issues or organization faltered, learning slowed noticeably.

Recent Achievements

One Ourimbah tutor noticed a big shift with Liv, a high school student who initially relied on intuition for tricky index laws; after some encouragement, she took time to unpack the formal rules and ended up acing questions that used to trip her up.

Another high schooler, Frankie, used to stay quiet when stuck but now talks through her working and immediately asks for help if unsure—a change from guessing in silence during earlier sessions.

Meanwhile, primary student Anureet struggled with 11 times tables above 10x11, but after learning a simple trick was able to answer them correctly when tested.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Tuggerah Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ourimbah Public School.
