Being patient in allowing students to fully grasp a topic or idea before proceeding. Often students have topics and subjects that have been neglected by the schooling system, and sometimes it is necessary to move backward before we go forward. I have been a student myself for 13 years and have an acute understanding of what assists myself and…

I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to not only help them understand the lessons, but assist them in the development of individual thought. My patience is extensive as I believe that the longer the struggle, the better the reward. However, I also believe that being able to communicate in various difference ways…

The most important things a physics tutor can do for a student is being able to understand the student's perspective. Understanding the student's perspective allows us as tutors to gain a better understanding of the student so we are able to adapt their classes to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency. First, I have experience tutoring for…

I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do is address a students weakens and advise them on how they can improve upon that weakness. For me when I was a student the best thing the teacher could do was give my examples and tons of practice that’s the way I learnt and it worked for me. Working according to the student whatever works…

A tutor should be able to help clear each and every notion that the student has about a certain topic. They should not get tired of explaining concepts on repeat. A good tutor should always be consistent and take note of what their student does. They should regularly follow up on lesson plans and make sure that the student is not burdened by any…

I consider patience to be an incredible skill for tutoring and most teaching jobs as it may or may not take time to reach the students. And when it does take time it is important to understand that the communication maybe blurred, thus it takes reinterpreting what was said maybe many times to reach the student. My strength would be considered my…

Sometimes, it's all about helping them further their understanding and establishing strong connections between the concepts taught in class and the activities in their everyday life and tailor the content according to their level of understanding…

Making the students feel confident on themselves and their strength is arguably the most important thing a physics tutor can do for student. The special thing about a physics tutor compared to a classroom teacher is that tutors deal with students on a much more personal level, with this, I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to understand and relate to the student personally his/her insights on the subject. Tutors can try to understand why the student either…

I believe the most important thing a physics tutor can do is leave the client with a feeling of achievement, that they have gained a new, reinforced or re-established understanding of things they may have been uncertain or unaware about. If at the end of the day the individual feels like they haven't changed, then this, I believe is an indication…

Experience was great, the tutor Neetu, is absolutely wonderful young lady. My son is so happy. Is is usually a shy boy who needs some time to get use to new people, but with Neetu, he automatically clicked, so ima extremely happy.

Inside RabyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Josh worked on addition and subtraction strategies alongside tackling basic multiplication and division, including simple inequalities.

In Year 9, Lily focused on solving linear equations—finding gradients, intercepts, and equations of straight lines—and explored the relationships between parallel and perpendicular lines.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Marcus practiced applying trigonometric ratios (sin, cos, tan) to solve for unknown angles and sides in right-angled triangles, with extra time spent revising bearings and types of triangles using diagrams.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student working on algebra and trigonometry struggled to keep track of sign changes in multi-step problems—"careless errors kept reappearing where signs were flipped mid-way," a tutor noted.

In Year 10 science, one student found it challenging to use the data from graphs when answering analysis questions, often missing marks for not referencing numbers directly.

Meanwhile, a senior maths student relied heavily on calculator inputs during complex quadratic work but made repeated mistakes entering formulas, leading to confusion about which step had gone wrong. This slowed progress and left key gaps unaddressed heading into assessments.

Recent Achievements

One Raby tutor noted a Year 11 student who, after initially struggling to connect physics concepts with real-world examples, was able to explain Newton's force equation in his own words and apply it to compare forces between different objects—something he hesitated to do previously.

In a recent high school maths session, a student who used to wait for hints started talking through her geometry problem-solving process out loud, demonstrating more independent reasoning.

Meanwhile, a younger student who often guessed days of the week now confidently recites them without prompting and has begun correcting herself when she makes mistakes.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Greg Percival Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kearns Public School.
