I think it is to be a good and trustworthy guidance where they can come towards to share their thoughts and be themselves. I hope to be a tutor where students want to learn from me, not just with knowledge but with who I am, my attitude, my values. If they can take away any hope or new goal or joy for them to pursue while tutoring with me, that…

Being able to step in the student's shoes and see how they are interpreting the concepts, and creating a tutoring basis to make it easier for them to understand. Being confident in what I know in regard to the subjects I am familiar with, allows me to correctly pass on my knowledge to others. But I am modest to see where I'm wrong and lacking,…

Being able to adapt to a student's learning style is one of the most important things you can do for a student because not every student will be receptive to a single teaching style. I'm good at putting myself of the shoes of a student and being able to see the perspective of someone with a learning gap. When you've been teaching a subject for…

The most important thing is building both understanding and confidence. A tutor should identify gaps early, explain concepts clearly, and help students develop problem-solving skills, not just memorise methods. My main strengths are clear explanations, strong lesson structure, and adaptability. I break concepts down step by step and adjust my…

Motivate them to study. In order to establish a good relationship, the tutor must be an energetic person, someone with a lot of enthusiasm with respect to human interactions. This interest will certainly have a positive impact on a child discouraged by the school and his or her bad grades. Through his or her good mood and motivation, the tutor will be a model for…

I consider patience to be the most important virtue in a tutor, setting small checkpoints between certain topics is a good strategy. A tutor should always pause and ask if the student has any questions or doubts about the concept. A tutor should make the student feel comfortable around them and they should not hesitate to ask any questions - no…

I think that communication and being on the same page (figuratively) as your student as very important. Teach in an understandable, motivating, and enjoyable way. Crucial factors for efficient learning (things as relibaility, punctuality and so on) are all obvious and mandatory to me. Finally, every student has his / her own ways of learning / understanding things, and it is clearly the job of the tutor to find out the most efficient one, to let the…

Inside Roseville ChaseTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student James worked on money calculations and fractions, as well as strengthening his skills with multiplication and division using everyday examples.

In Year 8, Trai practised plotting linear equations and revising key algebraic techniques, also converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages to support his exam preparation.

For Year 9, Aja focused on trigonometry problems including angles of depression and elevation, alongside factorising quadratic expressions through targeted practice questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 algebra, a student did not write down his working, leading to frequent errors that were hard to trace and correct.

During a Year 12 assignment, another student delayed drafting Parts A and B, making it difficult to start later sections on time.

In Year 6, incomplete homework meant less opportunity to review rounding decimals before the next lesson.

One Year 11 student only revised familiar surd questions and avoided unfamiliar formats; this limited exposure left her struggling with variety in tests.

After missing steps in a trigonometry proof (Year 10), confidence dipped noticeably during timed practice.

Recent Achievements

In Year 4, James was initially unsure about placing fractions on a number line, but by the end of the session he confidently ordered fractions like 1/4 and 1/3 without prompting.

For a high school student, Aja had struggled with bearings questions before her test; after targeted practice last week, she managed to answer those problems accurately during her assessment.

Another older student began hesitating to solve for x independently, but finished the lesson able to perform each step on his own for the first time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Castle Cove Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Castle Cove Public School.
