For Christian in Year 8, sessions included targeted practice with area and volume problems using diagrams, along with statistics worksheets to consolidate understanding before his upcoming test.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, a student struggled to identify how to start more complex area and perimeter questions; as one tutor noted, "he needed prompting to get started with the questions."

In Year 11, a student expressed that time pressure during exams led to rushing and minor errors in quadratics.

Another Year 12 student avoided writing full working for algebraic proofs, making it difficult to spot calculation slips until the end.

When tackling parametric equations in senior years, incomplete homework on set revision tasks meant gaps persisted before assessments—extra practice was set but not always completed before tests.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Shortland noticed Ruby, a high school student, hit a milestone after struggling with integration; she can now confidently rewrite equations for integration and recently earned a 78 in her maths report—her best yet.

Another secondary student who used to make small mistakes during tests is now independently spotting and correcting his own errors without prompting.

Meanwhile, Sebastian (Year 7) had found graphing daunting at first, but last session he tackled harder end-of-chapter questions much faster than before and even reached the enrichment problem, showing clear growth in both speed and willingness to try challenges.
