I really fell that a tutor should be a friend and not like a teacher so that student can easily approach them with their silly doubt without any fear and clear their concept thoroughly. I love to be with children and sometimes be like them and enjoy the life in a simple manner. This really makes a great bond between me and my students due to which…

Help them understand the topics and not only do the exercises proposed. When I tutor, I aim for enabling the student to face any kind of test their teacher poses to them and apply what they learned in many scenarios. I am patient and also persistent, in that I try to explain one topic in several different manners until the other student…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student are to offer mental support and celebrate their achievements. Additionally, tutors should guide students toward success by helping them create effective study plans and set deadlines. Providing personalized notes and resources can be a game-changer, as it empowers students to excel in their…

Teach them how to think for themselves and how to be critical of any situation so that they may find answers on their own. Teach them that values are more important than success in life. Educate them to be all-rounders. Give them hope, encourage them and not allow failure to bring them down lest they may falter into the wrong path. I was…

The most important role of a tutor is to transform a student’s mindset. Beyond teaching content, I aim to impart a genuine passion for the subject and build the self-belief that they are capable of mastering it. When a student stops saying 'I can't do this' and starts asking 'How do I solve this?', that is real success. As an Engineering Masters…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make sure that the student understands the concepts thoroughly. Not just a few questions or math problems, but the concept is the most important to get through. As a tutor it's a crucial job to make a base for the student, as this is the foundation for the student which needs to be really…

A tutor can intiate the interest in studies in the student and get him/her out of the virtual box of fear that a certain subject is difficult to master. My strength is the vast experience I have as a tutor since last eight years. Also the fact that I have completed higher degrees and this has enabled me to understand various concepts better which…

I think the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to have them gain confidence with themselves in terms of excelling in school. I think this confidence is important in not just getting high marks in quizzes and tests, but I believe that being confident will help them long-term in solving problems not just in school, even though…

I feel that understanding the student's moods and learning styles is very important for a tutor to teach effectively. I think being more practical, by being more open. By explaining problems with examples of real life, with things they already know and have seen. I believe a tutor should adapt to the student's learning style. Beyond that, I also consider building a strong bond with the student, creating a supportive and comfortable environment, setting clear goals, providing constructive feedback, and instilling a sense of confidence and self-efficacy to be equally important. Ultimately, the goal is to…

I've always been hesitant to answer questions in class because I feared being wrong. At home when my parents asked me that same question, I answered without the fear of being wrong. In my view, the most important things a tutor can do is to build a positive relationship with a student which is the key to become an effective teacher. Inside South WentworthvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Adam revised index laws and worked through adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions, with a brief introduction to right-angled trigonometry.

For Year 10, Priya focused on writing empirical and word formulae for ionic compounds, including those with polyatomic ions, while also exploring how ionic bonds form using key terminology.

In Year 11 Chemistry, Zara practiced calculating isotope abundance and drawing orbital diagrams, revisited ionic bonding response structure, and was introduced to metallic bonding concepts.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 Chemistry, one student hesitated to answer ionic compound questions without checking notes, revealing a reliance on aids that slowed exam-style practice.

During Year 10 Maths, another struggled with factorising quadratics—notes showed working steps were often skipped or incomplete, making error tracing difficult ("he jumped straight to answers without writing out the expansion").

In a Year 7 English narrative task, perfectionism crept in: frequent erasing and redrafting led to unfinished drafts by lesson's end.

Meanwhile, a senior student preparing for HSC essays left feedback unaddressed between sessions; their main points remained unclear when revisiting the draft.

Recent Achievements

One South Wentworthville tutor saw a Year 11 student who previously mixed up ionic and covalent compounds now confidently naming each type without hesitation, after struggling for weeks.

In Year 10 maths, a student who often guessed at fraction questions started asking clarifying questions instead and managed to correctly solve challenging algebraic fractions by the end of the session.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who had been nervous about reading out loud volunteered to read an entire paragraph from their history text in front of the tutor—something they'd never attempted before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wentworthville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hilltop Road Public School.
