I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is learning to adapt. Each students brain is wired completely different, and in school, there’s not always an opportunity to work one on one. So it’s crucial for a tutor to observe their students strengths and weaknesses, and use that to progress their learning. I am super patient…

Tutor has to be completely sure that students understood all provided information very clear. This gives them filling of confidence, happiness, and satisfaction. I can explain the information in different simple understandable ways. When I studied Diploma in Building and Construction in TAFE, we had subject which called structure. I could explain…

Geography Tutor Daleys Point, NSW
Provide support both academically and mentally. This can be done through practicing a topic of a subject, and also helping schedule their weeks, so they know they will still have social/leisure time, and maximize their grades and themselves. I am incredibly confident and happy to also learn new things. For example, if a student comes to me and…

Geography Tutor Ettalong Beach, NSW
I think the most important thing is taking the pressure off being “perfectâ€. There is no such thing as perfection and everyone reaches success differently. What works for one person may not work for another and in standardised exams, this often gets misconstrued, adding to the weight of being the perfect student. My patience and positive…

Shobana has been great with my son Mathew. She breaks down complex problems into easy manageable chunks of information that he can understand. She is very clear and concise in her explanations. He is a lot happier in Maths. Thank you

Inside TascottTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Yillen focused on Pythagoras' Theorem—using the formula to solve right-angled triangle problems and then applying these skills to real-life contexts, as well as revising perimeter and area with exam-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 9 Chloe worked through algebraic expressions involving indices and fractions, along with dividing fractions, using step-by-step breakdowns for tricky examples.

For a younger learner in Year 6, Arielle tackled surface area and volume of composite shapes while also practicing calculation of perimeters during targeted test revision sessions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student arrived 12 minutes late and remained unfocused, needing "almost 80% of the answers" to stay engaged—his calculator was also missing, which stalled progress on Pi-based questions.

In a recent Year 11 session, forgetting both notes and workbook before an exam left him with no revision guide; distraction took over as he tried to recall details.

For a younger student, reluctance to submit written work for feedback during spelling practice meant missed opportunities for improvement ("to get more written material from the student if wanting feedback on it"). These moments slowed growth and left gaps unaddressed.

Recent Achievements

A Tascott tutor recently noticed a big shift in one Year 10 student who, after often waiting for answers to be explained, began tackling algebra problems on his own and even started asking for more challenging homework.

Another high schooler moved from feeling unsure about Pythagoras' Theorem to confidently working through foundation problems by the end of the session.

Among younger students, Chloe (Year 5) showed new initiative by double-checking her work independently rather than just following along—she now spots errors herself before the tutor points them out.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kariong Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Point Clare Public School.
