What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The thing I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing genuine growth in students and knowing that I had some role to play in that because it is really fulfilling. I've worked with students on placement and have worked with family/family friends and seeing smiles on faces when activities get done is an awesome sight to see which makes me passionate and motivated to help more students.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think one of my strengths as a person but especially a tutor is the ability to be able to explain things in Layman's terms. At university, there are many lecturers and tutors who don't understand the importance of this skill and I can see that it disconnects not only me but the others in the class. I generally speak in ways that people can understand the message or lesson that I'm trying to get across and I have found that this really helps when I'm helping students in class or at home.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I consider the most important thing a tutor can offer a student is comfortability. Not only regarding the subject they are tutoring but also comfortability in speaking to a "person in power" and asking the "dumb questions". As a current university student, I encounter lots of peers who ask me questions that they are afraid to ask the coordinator due to fear of sounding stupid. I believe it is vital that a tutor establishes themselves as one that understands why these "dumb" questions are asked invites any questions about misunderstandings, no matter how obvious they may seem to the student.

Had to recap elimination method which Ben picked up really well quite quickly. Ben also had some really good problem solving for the harder questions.

I suppose just picking out when to use which method. (Substitution/Elimination) Although it seems he hadn't used elimination that much before so that is understandable.
I think David has more confidence when working with me by his side, as the stuff he struggled with in between lessons he did well with when I was there.

David is still every so often incorrectly doing his binomial expansions, it is becoming less and less often however.
David did really well this week as he does every week.

David can tend to make the error of forgetting his binomial expansion formula and just square both the terms. I'm confident that this will fade away after repeated practice.
David seems to be a lot more efficient when he has a watchful eye over his shoulder and the difference between his midweek work and our lesson really showed that.

It is a slight concern for David that he misses common mistakes when he has no one to correct him.
